172 Won't start urgent help please?

Hi Guys,

Basically the car won't start, only just happened out of the blue.

If we turn the ignk ition main beam will flash alarm will sound for a second and we get a few clicks. Any ideas what it could be?

My mind is thinking dead battery but grandad tested it last night and its reading 12V??
Is this a common problem?

Immob light is off matey and the central locking is working fine

ok changed the battery, got a little further but now there is a beep after it ticks over. it then cuts out!

Any ideAS?

Do any of you guys think this will be the immobilsor?
