172cup Juddering noise

Alrighty

When im turning right at at junction, and accelerate a wee bit at slow speed, i get a kinda juddering noise coming from the front. I have no idea what this could be. Aynone got any ideas? i know the engine mounts are kinda rubbish, could this be what the noise is? or could it be my steering rack?

any ideas?

Mine makes all sorts of noises mate, I have an instant Cure turn the radio up

On a serious note I think sometimes it has something to do with the Suspension on the Cups, but as you mentioned it could also be the mounts.

mine knocks wen pulling away, replaced all the engine mounts and it stopped. 3 days later it started knocking again.

went in the garage for the 4th time today!!!!!! f**king renaults!!!!!!!!

Its either engine mount related or part of the suspension catching (common Cup fault) I reckon.

My suspension squeeks/creaks on full lock and kind of clunks going round mini roundabouts & junctions. It can be fixed by putting washer's (3mm deep IIRC) on the suspension top mounts on either side. Theres a thread on here explaining it and a few people are making washers for a small donation too


EDIT - as you mention accelerating a bit (in 1st gear?) it sounds most like a dodgy engine mount. I hav'nt got that problem!!

This is what i have found from my experience:

Knocks when braking from slow speed and suddenly - engine movement due to worn lower gearbox mount (not dog bone)

judder when cornering - worn wishbone bushes (or loose)

knock or clunk from full lock steering - ball joints worn (esp if you have lowered suspension) and top mount bearing worn or needs the mod.
in rare cases track rod end worn.

Have you aftermarket coilovers? If so have you put too much camber into your ride? It can pull on the CV joints when cornering.

it also only seems to happen if im on a slight hill ie turning right at the top of a hill at a junction. this is when i notice it most. any way of me finding out what it is myself without havin to take it to a garage?

Yep only 2 bolts easy to change.

And does anyone has the part number of the lower gearbox mount? And how much is that??

I found from the FAQ. So which one is the lower gear box one?? Are the price updated and are they for 172?
