172FF - How can i lose some weight ?

A bit random i know, but does anyone know how to lose some weight from my 172FF to give it the edge on some cars ?

I would remove my back seats but they get used daily :(

Any other ideas that are easy to do ?

I've removed that ISOFIX Bar and spare wheel from my boot for a start :)

dnt really know of much that you could strip out that would actually make a difference... what about having a remap?

  Golf R soon...
You could compare your car to a cup then take off what the cup doesn't have accordingly!

That or buy a cup!

Ditch the spare wheel and get the moose that the 182
comes with.

Spend some money on ss exaust/inlet matched
and remap.

Thats what im planning to do to mine.
(not all in one go though, it would put me in the poor house.)

Its pretty much an issue of what comforts do you want to keep and how much are you willing to spend, i.e could you do without the aircon and leather? If so do away with it, do you want to invest in a carbon fibre bonnet etc..

Chop the roof off.

In reality, you won't make a great deal of difference unless you go for the full stripped-out treatment, and you will make daily life a lot more uncomfortable.

Remove the Interior and Strip Soundproofing then refit the Interior again

Standard front seats are f**king heavy

Aircon could go as well....don't need it anyway if last year was anything to go by

i say if want to lose weight you have to do it right, right down to wires and metal;)

i'd not bother if its ur daily driver, just get down to the gym and go to the toilet b4 you get in the car:rasp:

You'll never notice the difference without a spare wheel or a 5kg piece of metal buddy.

If you want to strip the car of weight, the best way to go is. (I've tried to do it in order of being able to live with if you're not hardcore to start with)

- Take out everything behind the front seats.
- Straight through exhaust with no silencers.
- Take out the passenger seat.
- Replace drivers seat with a bucket seat.
- Take out door cards etc
- Take out headunit and speakers and buy an ipod.
- Take out airbags (fit an aftermarket steering wheel and just remove the passenger bag)
- Light weight wheels (15" OZ superleggeras are comparitively cheap and light)

Unless your going to properly strip it, rear seats n all I wouldnt bother. Just sell it and get a Cup if your that bothered about weight! :)

  RB 200 Cup!
lightweight 15's instead of the 16's

remove the spare

you say back seats get used daily - tell your passengers to get the bus that will save weight and petrol!

That or buy a cup!

Dont forget to change the windscreen...lol

I wonder how many people know that the cup windscreen is thinner ?

And i wonder if windscreen companys would know :S

Or would they just bang in a standard clio windscreen ?

Whats the weight difference in the windscreens anyway ?
