182 .... A few more problems

First ill start with a tapping sound, mostly heard at tick over and when warmed up. my mate actually asked if i'd run out of oil its that bad.
Sounds like a noisy tappet....?

Next is a strange one, on full lock pulling away, the car feels like jelly, skips and wobble's, wheels bearings are fine and there is no play in the wheels.
( this only happens when for instance parking or pulling out at a junction)

Any ideas .... Thanks ?

1. Charcoal cannister (evaporates petrol fumes) - metal casing tapping agaist something... very common and not a problem to worry about. Can just get it replaced if you want for 40 notes or just leave it like most i think. Does the tapping frequency increase with revs and then dies out when revs get higher ?.... if yes, then def charcoal cannister i think.

2. I get this and i think alot of other people do. TBH, i think its just a characteristic of the 182 and is not a worry.

Hope that helps

ticking noise could be a crooked valve, the other thing is too weird, really don't have clue.:(

charcoal canistor sounds familiar. if i remember right you can adjust it to cure the noise.

As for the second problem is it more noticable in damp/wet/slippy conditions or surfaces? if so i think you'll find it caused by the tyres slipping and the wobble sensation is when they grip. Never had it on a 172 but have on a lot of 182. I assume all the suspension etc is the same between 172 and 182 so i put it down to the fact the 182 use a wider tyre and its a different make. A main dealers response to this will be normal characteristic in fact thats what i got back from renault technical themselves.

Whats the charcoal canister guy's, where can it be found and what does it do?
Both problems have only been around for the past month or so... car is on32000. Renault have change'd the front suspension under warranty about a year ago due to a fault, wounder'd if something could be loose..?

Got it booked in next friday.

It lives in the drivers side wheelarch, its there to release petrol vapours from the tank into the engine.[/QUOTE

Well ill pass the info onto renault when it goes in ...funny i took it down there for there "technician" to listen to and he didnt have a clue what it was.
Was talking about a engine strip to find the problem !!!!

Thanks For the info everyone
