182 Airbag ecu - Replacement needs coding?

  Clio 182
So I've had a small crash in my 182, driver's side airbag has deployed along with the pretensioner, I'm in the process of getting parts and I'm pretty much clued up on what I need to do. Though one thing I'm not so clear on, when I replace my airbag ECU, do I need to code that ECU to my car, or can I just plug it in and be away laughing? I've read that it needs coding but other people don't seem to have to do that. Anyone with experience around? Cheers!

If the part numbers are the same I think you'll be ok, I'd imagine it'll need coding if they don't match up though

You may also need access to Renault CLIP software to reprogram it too. One of the specialist here should be able to help.

Will I need to take it to someone who specifically has CLIP or should your standard auto electric specialist be able to reprogram it? I'm not sure if anyone here in NZ will have Renault specific software (apart from Renault, but the only Renault dealer is on the other side of the country).
