This needs to be done by someone knowledgable and with the right tools, most people go with an aftermarket specialist like those who advertise in the traders section;)

as said, if the person doing the job hasn't done one before (i'm specifically refering to the 172/182) and if they don't have the RENAULT ONLY tools, walk away

My girlfiends dad owns a garage, i'll double check if they have been done but if they havnt wen would u recomend changing them?

Asap! Belts can dry out/wear over time, more of an issue than mileage iirc? Service history?

you got £4K spare for a new engine?

you MUST use the RENAULT ONLY TOOLS (mickey mouse ones from laser etc are s**t and shouldn't be used) tools are cira £200
you MUST fit an aux KIT approx £135
obviously fit a cambelt KIT apporx £115
cam seals and crank bolt £11 and £5
possible dephaser £166

as said if he hasn't done one before and hasn't got the RENAULT TOOLS (i can't stress that enough!) then go see a specialist, some of us are cheap considering what's envolved!

sorry about all the questions but im new too all this

Ive got a 12 months parts and labour warranty from renault, i take it that wont cover it?

well technically it should've been done by now, but no, unless YOU follow the service schedule they'll politley tell you to jog on

it shouldn't really have been sold to you if it wasn't done, but then again you should've checked before buying
