Found a new garage recommended by someone I met at a petrol pump of all places, has a 172 race car, if you are on here, hello! Got the car back after 3 weeks as we were waiting on parts.
It had
- New brakes pads all round to try stop the horrendous squeeling that never went away from the PBS pro race pads
- New track rod end as was damaged
- Full service
- New driveshaft oil seal (shout out to frogjam the ebay one never showed up and they got it out next day)
- Alignment but could probably do with a proper geo set up again now its been messed with
Oil seal has stopped the leak YAY! but I now have 2 brand new driveshafts that i spent £260 on....
While the car was being sorted they saw one of the wheels had been welded which explains my death wobble over 70. Moved that wheel to the back and balanced all the wheels but it has now made the problem worse...
Problems still to fix
- Death wobble, i need to borrow a set of 16" wheels from someone to see if the welded wheel is the cause
- Speedo still needs an exorcism, speed bounces too slow, too fast and then never returns to zero- ordered a new earth strap to see if thats it, nothing showing on OBD and sensors reading normally on live data. Failing that i will get a set of clocks out a breaker and see if that solves the problem
- Airbag light, ordered some resistors as I can't find anyone local who has CLIP and is happy to code them out
- Intermittent key not recognised issue where the light flashes and car wont start, only have 1 key so will get Timpson to cut and code a new one and see if that fixes it
Wanted to be at CSF25 this weekend but only got the car back today and its still not right enough to drive so pretty pissed off with it. Also missed a track day at croft I had planned. Heres hoping I get it right enough to do Oulton in a couple of weeks!
