182 Brake Upgrade...?

Hi,
I've done some searching but not really found the answer I'm after.

Unfortunately my rear discs need changing however I have seen an ideal time for a brake upgrade.

I thought about getting standard rear discs and pads and then some uprated front pads and discs, is this a bad idea?

I don't have a massive budget, £200 preferably around £150 though for all four pads and discs.

Ideas on what to do please? :)

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
Fronts, Brembo HC discs, Ferado DS2500 Pads, set of braided lines + fluid

Rears , OEM disc and pads

Job done

I forgot to mention, I have no plans to use this car on a track. Is the mentioned overkill?

Is all the mentioned available from K-tec or similar shops?

Brembo HCs ~ £55 at NW Performance
Standard Rears and pads ~ £120 NW Performance
Mintex 1144 ~£50 sheets at Kam racing

Should see you right for a few spirited road drives! :approve:

Dont bother with the braided lines unless you feel you really need them or standard lines are looking perished!

I'm in the same boat aswell mate, need to get new rear discs and pads but have read that the money on brake upgrades is best spent on the fronts. Is this set up what most people on here are running?

The standard brakes are more than good enough for fast road driving. The rears do very little work anyway so just run standard discs and pads.

The front go for HC Brembos coz they are cheaper than the Renault discs. I wouldn't bother with any fancy front pads though. Ferodo DS2500 are £100 odd, the standard pads are about £40.

You only need performance pads if you are going on track. All my racing cars have run standard discs (or drums!) all round with no probs.

I'd go with this setup if you're not planning on tracking the car. Only thing I'd add to that is some Castrol Super Response Dot4 brake fluid.

You'll need to bugger about swapping the abs rings over and they might not be good quality. I'd go with the discs and pads from NW Performance as you'll be getting genuine Renault parts.

Ive just fitted Brembo standard (HC) disks with a custome groove pattern, and a set of Ferodo pads not DS, the original equipment replacement ones. It stops well now :)

oh I already had braided lines fitted

I've done the HC's and Ferodo brakes as well, seem a good un to me. Also fitted front HEL brake hoses, althought I need not have bothered as the original Ren. ones are also braided.
