182 brakes

  Titanium 182
I think my 182 brakes need replacing as the car hadnt been used that much when i got it, the pad doesnt appear to be touching the full surface of the disc.

can anyone recommend any good standard replacements? what make to go for and how much!

thanks Dean

Stock are IMO enough for most people.

Check the sliders work though they can be problems does your car pull in any way?

I put DS2500's on mine but that was only because I couldnt get the standard ones from Renault because they were closed at the time.

the car brakes pretty well, doesnt pull in any direction when braking heavily just i noticed the discs are pretty knackered so i want to replace them!, as said the sliders might need looking at when replacing the discs and pads

paul wont be doing any mods this time!

where did you get them from maz? they any good?

^ what he said ;) .. lol

Like I said Dean I only put them on because I couldnt get Renault ones at the time as the parts depeartment was closed and they needed done there and then, will be putting stock back on when they need done again :)

I put lockheed delphi discs and pads on the front of mine as they had only done 10 000 miles (on a 54 plate and bought in december 06) and the inside of the disc had a lot of laminar rust scale built up, its got 13 900 miles on now and the back disc are down to 7.36 mm thick and 4.5 mm of pad left, I think this is due to the front not working properly and the backs having to do the lions share of the work. the fronts all in were £105 all in and i fitted them myself. The Renault discard criteria for the front discs is replace at 7mm thick. had no fading yet on the fronts.

yeah i would expect that to last that long, the pads on my car have loads left on them but the car hadnt been used very much and when i got it the discs were pretty rusted up, they have cleaned up with driving it but not totally!

thats why i think its best to replace them!?

If they'd fail the MOT or you can afford to then chnage them but often its not necessary just check then.

dont think they would fail an mot but that doesnt need doing for a year odd or so!

yeah can afford to change them so probs best to do that!

Sorry for the delay Dean, been a bit busy, mine was a very low mileage car too, and the front discs inner sides were badly rusted aswell, but loads of meat left on the pads, but changed the lot on safety grounds. Tyneside motor company, whom I bought the car off and were unaware of the problem, very kindly paid half towards the cost of the parts as i fitted them myself. I'm in Middlesbrough by the way. I'll be changing the rears within a couple of thousand miles and was thinking of changing the rear wheel bearings aswell whilst they were off as the wheel bearings are in the rear discs apparently, theyre not worn or loose but as the discs are off I might as well replace those too so I won't have to re-visit the job again for a considerable time as the car is used daily.
