182 cup - ABS and traction control

  Sunflower & Golf Mk6 BMT
Hi guys and gals,

So ive had my 182 cup now for nearly a week. Last night it was raining as I was driving home so i thought I would test out the traction control and ABS.

I cant believe how lenient the set up is. I mean when i slamed on I must of locked up for 2-3 meters before the ABS slapped me on the wrist, i think thats quite excessive.

When I launched in the wet I was spinning for quite a bit before traction control kicked in. Anyway I think that traction control is a waste of time! You can get a much better launch without it. Round corners as I come round the apex and floor it traction control sometimes kicks in and really slams the breacks on.

Is the cup's drive-by-wire equipment set up differently from the other 182/172 models? I find the set up to be lenient??

Thanks

I went from 172 Cup to 182 Cup.Wanted the Racing Blue colour and some more toys ....T/C etc. To be honest its just as quick but a lot safer with the ABS and T/C

  182 Full Fatt!
I did the same in the awful weather we have had, and same result, I acually thought it wasn't working and was going to get it checked!
Still, if I want a scary raw wet experience I just take the Elise!

But it being lenient is a good thing. There's nothing worse than owning a performance car with an over-active stability control system.

I go into any corners, wet or dry, at 100mph on full steering lock and my ESP sorts everything out. Infact sometimes it drives home on its own while I read the paper. I'd get yours checked :(

I didn't think they had traction control? i thought it was just ESP?

Certainly the ESP doesn't catch striaght line wheelspin very fast but it seems to detect understeer/oversteer fairly quickly.

The ESP will include traction control surely? It does on most other cars lol

Mine certainly does have traction control as when it starts proper spinning it slams on the breacks.

My post was about the fact that the ABS and drive-by-wire systems come in very late compared to other cars I have driven, I was also wondering if Reno had made the systems more lenient for the CUPs? ie: for track use?

My ABS has always been over sensitive. Kicking in long before the level of slip is great enough to warrant it. So perhaps yours is fooked?

I did skid for quite a while before ABS came in. My old 172 FF ABS was very sensitive, it would kick in before I cud feel it!

Im gonna do some more tests when its wet as my sticky Pilot Exacto's dont like to slide in the dry :p

Nope same as normal cars.
