182 Cup - removing the stripes!

  Clio 200

Hi all,

I collected my 182 Cup earlier this week and have to say that I am absolutely delighted with it. I just need to clock up a few hundred miles in the shortest possible time so that I can start driving it properly :D

The car is Racing blue and came with the competition stripes, it happened to be the one they had in stock, and they were prepared to do a better deal if I was prepared to take that one. Now I love the Racing Blue, but have serious doubts about the stripes  My question is, has anyone tried to remove the stripes? Do they peel off, or would I be likely to damage the paint?

Cheers,
Neal.

just get a hot air gun or a hair dryer and theyll peel off pretty easily. if they do leave a mark just give it a wax or t-cut.. whichever you use.

you should sell it, they got crap twin exit exhausts anyway, with the money you could buy yourself a mint williams instead and have a lot of money left for mods ;)

Well, my Clio is now stripe free.

I was washing it this afternoon and noticed that one of the bonnet stripes was peeling at the edge (quality job, Renault  ) so decided that they definitely had to go.

They actually came off pretty easily, I used a hair drier (thanks for the tip) to warm them up and just peeled them off. There was a fair bit of adhesive residue left afterwards, but I found that Auto Glym Intensive Tar Remover and some elbow grease worked a treat! I then just applied a bit of polish over the area and job done!

Just for the record we use white spirit or even gun wash on factory paint to take of any adhesive and normally if we are takin stickers of they have been on years!!!!!

I work at a sign company specialising in commercial vehicles btw

:D Yeah, I know all about the R8 Gordinis of the 60s, but I think they looked a bit OTT on the Clio. Also, I think they would have started to become tatty very quickly, one of my bonnet ones was already starting to peel at the edge!!

Why would you remove the stripes? They look really gordini good. Makes the car look more unique too.
