182 cup vs 172 cup gearbox

  330i. E30 Touring.
The 172 box has a speedo sensor though.. The 182 uses ABS to work the speedo. I think they're the only differences.

  53 Clio's & counting
iirc as said the ph1 does have longer ratio's, all the PH2 boxes have the same ratio's, and the cup has speedo drive, the normal ph2 have speedo taken off abs sensors

  172 cup & 182
The PH1 and PH2 gear ratio's are the same the PH2 has a lower Diff ratio.

Thanks for all the responces. So really, the only difference between two stock cars would be the overall tyre size comparing 205 45 16's to 195 45 16's. With the 195's having a slightly smaller circumference?

PH1, 172, 15in wheels, PH2, 172, 182,16in wheels.

Different diff ratio's not done to compensate for the tyres but for the wheels.

Slightly off topic, but I've seen you post a reasonable amount about gearboxes and differentials. Have you had some work done to yours or do you work with them?

Lately I have been stripping and rebuilding two gearboxes so I can install a
Quaife Diff in a PH1 box with a PH2 Diff ratio.

Will be trying it out in anger at the Renault Sport trackday on the 19th at Bedford.
