182 cup vs 172 cup

Car  Trophy #240/R33 GTST
Hello!
New here me and my mate are hopeing to go 50/50 on a clio sport wa hey! we are wanting to use it as a track toy and play toy really.

Just wanted some opinions off you knowledgeable people as to which you would prefer..( and no we can't stretch to a trophy :dapprove:) a 182 cup or a 172 cup?

Thanks

Ed

lol 50/50 on a car sounds like a disaster imo.

... but deffo 172cup... 182cups are for the limp wristed cs driver :rasp:

50/50 on a car is bad news. me and my mated went 50/50 on a track car second lap and i rolled it my mate never even sat in the driver seat lol

i know i know....its ok tho don't worry about that part!!! we got that covered! its a risk but we just have to be trusting plus we agreeded whoever breaks it pays for it!
am looking forward to it tho! i love my 1.6 but just need more oomph! =)

172 cup all the way if its a track toy as the 172 is more hardcore and more of a drivers car

sack the 172cup go for ph1 172 aka the ph-quick. :D

no point buying a cup if you are going to be stripping it anyway
save money buying it then spend the rest on suspension and brakes.

JOB DONE

a 182 cup is not a proper cup its like just a cheap verson of a 182

a 172 is a proper cup light raw and a really drivers car

well that seems very conclusive! thank you! 172 cup i guess it is!!! well can't wait till after xmas when the shopping can begin! =)

was thinking that too - probably what i'd do if it were a dedicated track/toy and it had to be a Clio. even if all you did was strip it out, it'd likely lap a fair bit quicker than a Cup and you'd probably save yourself the best part of a couple of grand (?) which you could keep aside for running costs.

It really doesnt matter. Id put money on it your not a good enough driver to make it worth the discussion, not inteded as an imsult by the way.

well if it don't make that much difference i think we will save our money and take the 172. the idea is so we can improve our track driving. which i can't wait for!

Yep just go for the cheaper especially if it is to be used on a track cos all sorts can happen

you don't have to be a very good driver to see or feel the difference between the 172 & 182 cups. I've driven both very hard and i pick the 172cup every time.

It feel more focussed, more direct, responsive... raw if you like. And not just a tiny bit quicker, it's actually a fair bit faster... especially if you are talking about track times

track car or not get the 172 cup. the 182 cup wasn't the best from renault imo. get one quick though, far too many are being written off.

also, if you're going to tamper with it. start with the suspension first, then brakes and leave the engine well alone imho. it will last longer
