182 Cup Vs 182 Cup wheel track, weird??

  Sunflower & Golf Mk6 BMT
Hello,

There is dude in my office who has just bought a 182 Cup in racing blue so its exactly the same colour as mine and same model (c**t). Not sure if its a 2004 or 2005 as he has a private plate.

Anyway, we both parked next to each other today and I noticed that my wheel track is much wider than his?! I mean my wheels stick out about 1-2cm more than his, yet they are both Cups.

Looks like we have different set-ups but we both have standard suspension. I don't have spacers either.

Mine is on an 05 plate, so does that mean there was some revisions to the hubs? Some times when I go over large bumps with passengers my wheels rub on the arches :-s

Any ideas what the difference is?

from factory those two cars would have had the same size tyres. 205 45 16. someone may have put the narrower tyres on cos there cheaper. cheapskate!!

No we both have PE2's 205's on. On close inspection it looks like i have wider/larger hubs?? what the hell?

My Rims definatly stick out more! :-s

sure his isnt a standard 182, that maybe has been bumped.... changed the wheels for anthricite, lost the xenons, washers and ended up with cloth interior

long shot lol

his and yours should have 60mm bolt spacing, like this lol

182 cups and a cup suspension packed 182's will be the same.

Maybe they fucked up on the production line. Actually no. Renault would never do anything like that.

The only changes on the 182 were the none Cuped cars have different hubs (there 172 ones with 54mm spaced bolts) wheras the Cuped cars have the bigger hubs with the 60mm bolt hole spacing

Weird, cause a 182 cup I'd expect to have the same 182 hubs. As edde said the non cup / non cup packed 182 has mk2 172 hubs although the track is still wider than a mk2 172.

But how the feck could they screw up a cup with the standard suspension, thats weird.

very strange.

But be happy in the knowledge that you have the wider track, and the more grip!
