182 ecu in a 172

  Astra van,Mk1 nova
this really is just a random question and most likely sounds silly;)

What would happen if if a 182 ecu was used in a 172 along with the 4-2-1 exhaust manifold?

Any gains or downfalls?

I used a 172 ph2 ecu in my 182 for a while. It worked, except for the cc and speed limiter. So I think the 182 will also work on a 172. Not sure

there are a few techy reasons as to why you cant just 'swap' - immobiliser etc but essentially your saying use a 182 map on a 172 - well yes u can.
from speaking to pete at bellautos when he remapped mine, the fuelling and timing gradually got more agressive with 172 -> 182 altho my late 172 was somewhere inbetween (it has the rs manifold and 182 ecu as standard) altho at some point you obviously pass peak point and start to go back again which may or may not happen without checking on a rr or via live monitoring
