182 engine problem?

Topped up oil this morning and after 30 mins. of driving engine started running rough, smelt burning oil, blue smoke, car idling at 2000 revs. and temperature gauge at bottom. Got car home, took some oil out (at least what I put in ), car started fine, ran fine for about 5 miles and then same problems and when stopped doesn't want to start again.( only way to start it is with foot flat on accelerator). Any ideas before I go in to dealers tomorrow.

1) Faulty temp sensor cause my engine to flood a few times.

2) Try a bit of engine cleaning detergent... or some sort of additive.

3) Did you pit the oil in the right reservior? (not meaning to take the piss... but sometimes I can do absent-minded things like that).

The oil level was lower than max. on dipstick, now approx. 3/4, no I put oil in right place. Also if it was temp.sensor, would that make it run that bad, and not want to start. Also when I got it to start this evening it took 10 mins.

Its the temp gauge mate. It causes problems. I had mine flooded once and only just managed to start the b**ch in plumes of smoke and that. And it also caused a 2000rpm idle once (i belive)

sounds like very similiar problems i had.

i had temp sensor changed, oxygen sensor changed and one other sensor changed over a period of two months with the temperature gauge, loss of power and smoke beinging a reaccuring problem over that period of time

in the end renault changed the wiring loom which took two weeks. i had some crap astra van as a replacement car.

all under warranty, that will sort it... i promise... ;)
