182 exhaust manifold - worth fitting to a 172 Cup?

  Ultra Red Megane 225
As the title suggests really, is it worth spending cash on? Im sure someone once told me that this is where the 182's get their extra power from?

I can get one reasonably cheap, but dont want to waste time fitting it if i wont gain anything.

You'll get a 50 50 split with this question matey.

Im more than happy with mine. Works well with the other mods and is car easier with exhaust maintanance.

If you can get the whole thing done cheap then go for it. Anything more than 350 all in and id leave it as theres more cost effective mods

I can get the bit for less than £100 so will probably be worth it! ive had head work done, so this did seem like the next logical step to me, but I thought I would ask the experts on here.

You'll need the 182 cat though, as your 172 one obviously won't fit it any more.

I heard sean at K-tech say that the heads were slightly diff, valve size maybe.

Only difference is the ph1 has slightly larger exhaust ports and the ph2 has larger inlet ports than the ph1

Zero difference to performance with either head and dosent effect the 182 mani in anyway.

No you dont. It wont fit. its too big although someone i belive has hacked it down but theres better easier options.

Well worth doing if you have headwork imo and especially at that price.

Pulls harder top end of the rev range i felt.

They reckon you loose lower end torque with the 182 one but not sure tbh.

Depends what mods youve got etc

If a ph1 172 with no headwork done, orginal exhaust with sebring back box only. Will it have any improvment in lower end torque or higher rev? THX

  RS RIP
It seems to improve torque.. I've done it too to my cup , love it. I smacked some cams in there while we were at it so i'm not really sure about the difference when running oem..

And when wanting to run decat, this is a nice manifold to swap cat/decat every year for MOT.. MUCH easier to reach the cat :)
