I've had the car for a few weeks now so thought I'd best start a progress thread!
I saw Fattys thread on knocking together an induction kit, so ordered the parts only to realise when they arrived that my battery was big enough to power a campervan. My bad.
Today, nipped to euro car parts and grabbed a new battery and pollen filter.
Before

As you can see the old one was too dirty to use as a floor matt.
I took the old airbox off and encountered a couple of surprises. Starting with it rattling when I shook it. On peering inside;
Worrying...
On opening the airbox... Serious Wtf moment here
A piece of gravel past the filter...
A MASSIVE block of wood on the other side.
The only thing I can think of is that the last owner did something seedy to his mechanics sister/mum. That hunk of wood wouldn't even fit through any of the intake holes into the airbox, so someone has either intentionally put it in there or it grew in there.
Anyway, 30 mins after starting;
Heat proof paint on the stainless intake etc. Gonna test drive later but that's a start. More to come after Christmas!
