182 Oil Filter Removal

  RS Clio 182

Has anyone who has done this used any good oil filter removal tools? I am finding it impossible to get in and loosen the old filter and wonder how I will tighten the new one up. I dont really fancy removing anything from the engine block and am unsure what I should be loosening from the tutorial in the help articles. Anyone got any tips?

Stick a screw driver through and turn it off. Or if you have £15, halfords can help you!

When you put the new one on, just hand tighten it. Remember to put some oil on the rubber seal before you put the new filter on.

Dont fancy getting oil everwhere with a screwdriver and space is very limited. Also im struggling to get my hand into the filter so will be very difficult to make sure it is tightened! Has anyone got an info on useful tools that they have used for removal?

Use the Renault Oil filter tool - theyre well worth the price as they lock onto the bottom of the filter, have a 1/2" square drive for a ratchet, and also a hex head for spanner. Go to your dealer and ask parts for one - normally available next day.

Beat me to it...

Really is a piece of p!ss to do this, just remove the two 10mm nuts as arrowed >>>

[Pic here - Is the uploader down!?]

Remove the metal fuel rail guard, and you can now get to the filter easily, so either unscrew by hand or with a removal tool.

Cheers for the replys. Would appreciate if you could get that pic up at some point Rich-D. Im not 100% sure where the nuts are to be honest. Is the heat sink purely held on by two nuts? No sealing in between or anything?

get a mirror and look up the 3 holes and in 2 of them there are screws just remove them, its easy with it removed, and it is the right thing to do because i asked at renault and a mechanic came out and showed me.
