182 oil (Magnatec)

Ive just had to get some oil for the 182, ive bought Magnatec GTX 5W-30.
Is this ok to use?
whats the best stuff to use?
what does everyone use

im sure its supposed to be 5w-40, and magnatec do make it in that grade. Im due for a service in 1,500 miules and i aint takin it no garage to get ripped. Ill do the service myself and get the book stamped, but i was thinking of using the magnatec or any quality oil will do really. If you look in your serice book (the one that the dealer is supposed to stamp after a service) i does say, for the 182 use 5w-40 oil.

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly, but where do people take their cars to be serviced? Do Yozza do servicing? They're the only specialist independant close to me.

To be fair Mark, you should use what the Renault book says. Theres no point buying the wrong oil for your car, read the service book, Renault will tell you the exact oil you need to use, what grade etc. Then just go and buy that.

That's what was put in mine by Renault on it's 12k service. :/ It won't be happening at 24k.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Magnatec is crap, it's just not the right oil to use in a 172/182.

I ran my old Renault 19 16v on Magnatec 10/40w and it was fine.....old car though.

i used magnatec in my saxo VTS and it ran mint, no noise or anything

I had Magnatec in my Valver and it was excellent, put it in the Williams thou and it was horrible, made it sound like shite
