182 only worth £6,500 what a joke!

just been to mini to enquire about how much my 182 would be worth if i was to part exchange. reason being i'm still toying with the idea of staying at home and commuting to uni as opposed to going back to durham and so the 182 would have to go if i was to live at home.
i waited half an hour for an answer and he even inspected the car, all he could offer was £6,500! i couldnt even swap it for an 02 reg mini one.... what a joke!

id sell it private if i was to but as i said, it's unlikely that i'll be selling it, sometimes circumstances change so i thought id enquire just incase.

no, i wanted a cooper. it's not the fuel thats the problem

i also reckon that if you went into the dealership with your bloke by your side (i'm assuming you went alone) they would have offered you more... same happened with someone i know

Mini's are overpriced IMO for what they are.... stick with the 182 and use the student loan to fund it for a year

yeah they are very overpriced but i was just thinking of alternatives to the 182 and there arent many other cars i actually like!
i can afford the 182 in durham because insurance is less than half the price it is if i was to live in blackburn (as of october), hence why i bought the 182 cos i knew i could afford the insurance as planned. it's just a matter of weighing up what's more important- keeping the 182 and going to a better uni, or staying local and having to drive a 1.2 lol

You've got to remember that the dealership will want to make money out of your car though. Add their £1500 accross the car and its worth £8k - which is what they are basically valueing it at. A dealership will never offer you top dollar for your car - which is why most will also suggest you sell privatly.

yeah, i expected that but i just thought they'd offer more considering i'd be buying a car off them in exchange. still think it's ridiculously low though!

Bang on, you have to remember that mini dealers have it easy, they dont hard sell and the customers come to them. Why should they go to the trouble of giving you what amounts to a discount when plenty of customers will pay full wack.

Ok Glassess guide atm is 8200 for a good example 182 my05 plate thats what i've been offered by Alfa... but the difference is they want to sell me a car wheras everyone wants to buy a mini so MINI they dont need to offer anything fantastic for you to accept the offer.... get a 147 GTA

mini coopers are over rated. drove my mates one and its still really plasticy. Just better screwed together plastic. Would take my 182 over one any day.
