182..opinions please..!

Saw this in Autotrader today:

Its the top one, £10495 - I dont think thats too bad for a dealer, if I could get a fair trade-in for the 172..

I rang him today to ask what colour it actually is, and he said he thinks its racing blue, but hell need to check as it was only PXd at the weekend and he hasnt even seen it yet as its at a friends garage. Hes calling me back tomorrow.

Think he must be one of those internet dealers who dont have their own forecourt.

I saw a racing blue 182 near work today..Im sure its an omen..what do I dooooo? Id only consider this one if its got both cup packs.

The first thing to note, is that it doesnt seem to have either Cup pack. Whether or not this bothers you is another matter.

Ive spoken to the dealer this morning and it DOES have both cup packs, and its definitely racing blue - only 5 months old and 3k miles.

Im going to see it on Sunday, and Im pretty sure Ill go for it!

Hes offered me £7k trade-in on the 172 because its an import, so I guess I cant really complain.



Compare this to another dealer I spoke to about a 182 in inferno with cup packs, year old with 11k miles - he wanted £12,600 for it (you WHAT?), and would only offer £6,200 for my car..

Ive been looking around for a racing blue 182, not many of them around! If its a good one go for it, you know you want to

sounds like you have already sold it to yourself though, let the sales man sell it to you and see what he might through in, even if its a tank of fuel or 12 months tax its all a saving, make him work for his sale!!!

Well there is the possibility hell turn around and drop the trade-in price, but if he does therell be no sale!

Ill pay the rest in cash (need to get out another loan, use it pay off the current one then give him the difference, get the best rate that way).

I know you can get new 182s for around 11.5k, but this ones only 5 months old, so I still think its reasonably good value. It still has 7 months tax too. Its also a UK car, and the cheaper new ones all seem to be pre-reg or imports.

The yellow ones very nice (its a guy on CS) but I need to trade mine in cos no-one wants it *sob* plus 10.5k is the max Im spending.

any point in swapping to a 182 from a 172? I would wait for the new RS clio myself (or get a megane 225 hehe)

Yeah by the time the 182 has been run in enough to be as quick as a 172 the new model will be out.

Yeah but the new RS will probably be about 14k, and I wont be able to afford it - Ill be happy to wait for a while and have a 182 and wait til you can get them 2nd hand. Theyre not out for another year and a half anyway!

IVE BOUGHT IT!!!!

I got full 7k trade-in for my car (so NUR McBunny ).

Im hopefully picking it up next weekend if I can get the money sorted by then - but its MIIIIINE!

Took it for a test drive - clutch felt different to the 172 - brakes didnt feel as good, bizarrely (but then there were three of us in the car). Didnt notice any difference in acceleration, and I gave it a good blast along a stretch of dual carriageway. No knocking sounds, strange dashboard lights or funny noises.

Steering and handling is great, much better than the 172, and the suspension wasnt as hard as I was expecting.

Colour is STUNNING - and the car is PERFECT. Alloys are pristine, paintwork hasnt got a single chip or scratch.

Its actually done 4.6k, but it has tax till the end of November, and was registered new in Dec 2004.

The only problems are - only has 1 key, no cans of tyre foam, cant find the key to get the wheels off, no luggage net. The dealer is going to get all that sorted by the time I pick it up - I told him I NEED the other key.

Im really, really pleased - my bluetooth isnt working so I cant post the pics on the forum - I got one of it next to my 172, and on its own .

I think £10495 and 7k trade-in on mine is a great deal, and Im REALLY pleased, especially as it has both the cup packs..just one week to wait!

Just goes to show you that a bad description and no photo can sometimes mean a bargain!

Same colour and spec as what Im after. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Hold the dealers feet to the fire to ensure that they really do sort out about the 2nd key. Theyre not cheap. Also when it comes to wheel nut lock ... the car should have come with a magic number that I dont think Renault themselves keep. Should have been stuck into the service book etc..

The guy basically didnt know much about 182s and he didnt know what the cup packs were! Apparently a Renault garage had already offered to buy it hehe.

LOL @ Andy ... you really think I should be Vague Blue? BTW I texted you a picture of it with my car - do you think youd be able to upload it for me please? My bluetooths stopped working (stupid k700i) Ill take some proper ones when I get it.

Awww Jilly, sorry Im leaving the black 172 club - they will always look the best when clean .

yeh they look bigger as the spokes reach the edge of the wheel, giving the illusion that there bigger than the 172s
