182 or 197 Cup

  197 Cup (JAWS)
Yesterday me and my girlfriend were walking in meadowhall shopping center located in sheffield and they had the renaultsport team there with the brand new clio 197 cup and boy did my eyes light up, it had the spoiler pack and was in white.

I fell in love

At the moment I have a 182 with the cup pack and love it to bits, but is it worth changing to this new era ? Its a 55 plate in racing blue and its immaculate, i polish it every weekend and its a beauty.

But would I get any advantage ? I pressume the build quality is better and handling?

The price at the moment is £14995 which sounds tempting

Any feedback would be much appreciated

172 cup is the one you need, pretty sure can get a cup alot cheaper than that, R27s used to sell for £15k

I've just sold my Trophy to make way for a 197 Cup, which I pick up tomorrow morning.

You'll be able to pick one up for much less then £15k if you shop around.

You won't know if it's for you until you've driven one. I personally think it's a marmite car, those that love it absolutely love it. Those that hate are normally more balanced people, with a fairer point of view;) .

197. You wont look back, i never did from my 55 plate 182........

I want to change my 07 plate Fiesta ST for an RS Clio, but I really don't know whether to go for a 55 plate 182 with Recaro's, or a 197 Cup.

I like the idea of a new car... but reading mags like Evo would suggest that the 182 is... dare I say it... 'better'

I don't like the colour of the Trophy, and have an odd obsession to Xenon's, so the Trophy isn't an option...

The problem with test driving a 197 is they won't have been run in.

^^ If you do get a 182, no point in getting a cup unless it's a 172 cup IMO.

So all in all you think I should part ex mine for the new Glacier White 197 Cup ?

How much you think I will get more a 55 Plate 182 with Cup Packs, the car is in outstanding condition and gets polished every saturday morning. Mileage is 25k

I wouldnt bother with a 197 cup - they have took to many things out.

Just get a 197 with cup packs - like me ;)

I agree, if you're going for a 197, go full fat. I still think they look best in racing blue, white's getting a bit common;).

TRUE - but when you can save 2k on the price.

This is what made my mine up.

There are so many views on this, and everyone's different the choice is yours.

i've judt done your exact swap, did have an 04 182 with cup pack, now have a standard 197 to keep the luxuries. In terms of kudos the 197 cup is a better car with better cred imo, however unless you are more into a "drivers car" rather than creature comforts you may well miss some of the kit the 182 has such as aircon, auto lights and wipers etc. The price of the cup is superb value and it should hold its value too - maybe worth a look at a second hand R27 as well?
