182 or trophy

First post for me, just wanted to to congratulate you guys on a brilliant forum - just spent a couple of hours reading through various posts and so far you have saved me £600 on the best price I could find for a new silver 182 with cup extras (£11.7K from http://www.drivethedeal.co.ukwww.drivethedeal.co.uk) and I now know where to expect all the rattles to come from and the poor level or service to expect from the dealers (forewarned is forearmed !).

Test drove the 182 last Sunday and fell in love with it. I also drove a Civic type-r and Seat cupra r on the same day and have to say that of the three only the 182 gave me that same permanent grin that appears after a few pints on a Saturday night.

Anyway, cheers for the posts in this thread - they have convinced me to book a test drive in the Trophy before placing my order. The price difference between the two cars is close enough that it would seem crazy not to take it out for a spin. I will let you know how it goes.

Im not normally one for believeing hype especially when it comes from Renaults superb marketing department but if I was set on a 182 right now I would get the trophy......apart from I wouldnt get a trophy because Id wait for the 06 RS to come out.....

06 RS will not be as good as a trophy though! chances are it will be both slower and will not handle as well as a trophy, it could be a flop, heavy, underpowered and looks a tad gay!

P.s. the trophy is 1 second quicker round renau;ts 3km test track!! And thats driven by professionals, I personally liked the toys in the 182, and when I test drove them both the Trophy was unbarably bumpy, and as I live in Central London, I think that makes my choice easier... delivery in 6 weeks, yey...

Would have had the recaros if they didnt gip you on the back seats to and replace them with some rubbish piece of foam.
