182 or v6?

  182 with cup packs
ok i have just been made an offer that im seriously considering,

i have got a racing blue clio 182 05 plate,recaros 12,000 miles i am 2nd owner,

should i swap + £4000 for a clio v6, 500 miles, i will be 3rd owner, 2003(53), the only let down is the colour.... red. oh yeah and its a phase 2

what do you think people????

or should i keep the 182 and spend the £4000 on supercharger and bits?

I can't comment on the money side of things because I haven't looked into prices of V6's, but do you really need the technical hassle of fitting a supercharger to your 182? (Not to mention the cost of insuring the thing, I know that insurance on a V6 is not cheap, but the cost of insuring a heavily modified 182 doesn't bear thinking about). Also, if you come to sell in the future, a standard V6 is going to sell far more easily than a modified 182 which will make people wary.

So its a Mk2 vee with only 500miles on the clock 2 1/2 years old and i'm guessing with an asking price of around 15k assuming your getting top dollar for yours at say 11k?!? If that the case a 15k mk2 vee with that lower milage has got to be a mistake or have something very wrong with it IMHO.

Of course i could have all the above wrong, lots of assumption there. Give us a bit more detail, you might get more response!

If it all seems ok mate go for the Vee, you wont regret it.

Ive had mine a year and not regretted it one bit.;)

If that is right then it's a tad worrying. If however it's 5000 miles then it seems a very good deal if the car is straight. If you can afford it then I would say go for it. There aren't many other cars that will give you the experience of the V6 for that money.

maybe...

yeah the guy lives down the road from me, the car is mint, you cant tell the diff in paint where he has had front pannels replaced. but yes it is a recorded cat D..... what do people think now???

should i deal or No deal?

It'll be harder to sell on in the future, but if you can afford to run and maintain it, i would buy it (assuming you cant tell its been damaged?) - Cat D is not too bad i suppose.

no it has been repaired really well, its in as new condition, the only thing puttin me off is the colour...red... never really liked it but then again it is a mk2 v6!!!

I wouldn't let that put me off too much. Afterall it's a Mk2 Veeeeeee6!!

Anybody got picks of the 'Red' V6?

Tyson.

frankly id bite his hand off.

It would be much faster and after all its the best clio u can get.

Ad only 5000 miles.. thats barely run in.

i would... although its up to you.. and red is nice.. u can always have it resprayed

I think the red is very nice!!

Why is he so keen to sell it on then?? The cat d business would worry me.

The price seems great though, only another 4k!

go for the v6! look at it this way....you go up to someone and say "yeah iv got a clio 182", the reply will be "hair dressers car, females car", you say "yeah iv got a clio v6" the reply will be more like "kool! how fast does that go then? must pack a bit of power?"

v6 v6 v6 v6 v6 v6

(altho, i must say a v6 engine isnt the best in the world. str8 6 is better, v8 is best for v type engines...)

  182 with cup packs
no im not fussed bout back seats. im drinkin petrol anyways on my 182 so maybe v6 will make me drive bit more responsible, he he.

  Megane 225 Cup
go for it then although u will no longer be able to surprise people at traffic lights like u can in a 182.. cos the v6 looks as mad as it drives.

he hardly drives it, he has only covered 3000 miles in the whole time he has had it.

Then why did he buy it? It's not a car that you'd really want to do a LOT of miles in anyway.

  X-172 Cup
it's @ a good price, due to Cat D but do not buy it until you have given it a thorough test drive, the car will have been inspected to put it back on the road but that's not to say that it could have hidden 'shock' chassis/suspension/steering damage...

Don't want to put you off, it's a great car @ a great price but make sure you find out exactly how the accident occured, where the damage was, what & who repaired it.

  MK2 Clio V6 255
Between March and October last year i put over 12k on my vee, cant see the point in having a car if your not gonna drive it cos you dont wanna put miles on it.

Its great to drive and have enjoyed every single mile.

By the way that wos only driving it at night and weekends, work van in the day.;)

Well Was Gonna Do The Swap 2moz But Just Got Car Back From Service And It Has A Dent In Rear Wing And Scrated Up Bumper, Gonna Have To Have It Fixed Now, Fuckin Kunts!

I think the red looks sweet to be honest! i love the blue but they are more common sight! i think the colour will become something which is more saught after in a few years time, just like the flame red 172's have become now! All being well with the running costs of a vee and the mechanicals all being good then you would be mad not to!

a sign not to bother! does sound tempting tho

Just to let you know what he told me. I enquired about this car a few days ago, ask for accident photos and any other info etc.... this was his reply:

'Hi
I do not have pictures of the car damaged, but as you know the car you know that the front & wings are plastic together with the splash guards underneath the front. It does not take much to break them and with the cost of replacing them and the fact that it was owned by the Renault dealer and that it is easier to reclaim the full cost of the car than sell it, they claimed the new value from the insurance company. It was only 5 months old when damaged. I am only too happy for you to view the car and in fact would prefer it. 2 people have seen the car, 1 of which wanted to p/ex a Mercedes 230 slk which does not interest me, and the other was a 27 year old who loved the car but did not have the cash. I have taken it once on a renaultsport driving evening at Brands Hatch when it was pouring with rain and the car behaved impeccably.
Let me know if you want any further information.
Regards
Phil Everett'

Obviously read into it what you want, cheers, Steve.
