182 petrol cost for 145 miles on motorway??

  Clio 182
I dont use my car enough to know what it is roughly these days....
Paying 1.14 a litre at the mo.
What's the approx cost for 145 miles on motorways, no traffic expected and driving at average motorway speeds.
Any idea??

At a rough guess about £30 ish. I did 400 miles the other weekend and used the best part of two bloody tanks worth.

  ph quick
on normal fuel mixed driving open country roads, bit of town and about 120miles on motorway i got 300 miles for 40 quid last tank...

I drove Maidstone to Bristol and back yesterday (170 miles). Half a tank each way.

Was doing 44mpg on the way and 39 on the way back.

170/44 = 3.8 gals x (108.9*4.4) = £18.20

145m would be about £15.30

Bloody hell how do you get into the 40's?

I drive steady from Dartford to Maidstone every day and sit at 75-80 just feathering along and at best I get 36-38 mpg!

  Clio 172mk2
my 172 gets 43.9mpg on mways sticking at 70-80mph.

at a gues 15 quid for petrol for yer trip if yer steady with the right foot, check tyre pressures are correct

  Clio 172 mk2
Got 45mpg out f my 172 at the weekend....probably due to being held up and having to stick at 50mph everywhere

Lol at people saying they get into the 40's on the motorway. When was the last time you cleared and reset your trip? Mid to high 30's is all you'll get at motorway speeds. You're sat around 4,000 RPM and the engine is starting to breathe heavy as it's at the point it's coming on cam.

  Fiat Coupe 20vt
I did 125 miles on motorways and an a-road only in my 182 a few weeks back and from an empty tank put £20 worth of fuel in and got about 42-44mpg, i still had 40-50 miles left in the tank on my arrival.

Well I did Glasgow to Manchster on sat , it took me roughly 230 miles and it cost me 35 quid roughly driving around the 77 ish mark cruise control all the way.

41.4! 52 miles round m25 @ 70mph. (Reset trip while at 70mph)

Admittedly, I have not tried it since my decat, prospeed and piperX! Prob low 30's now!

You are suposed to reset it after a fill up not on the move! This will severely distort your results!

Agreed with Looney, I sit at 70-80 most day on the motorway and in reality on a good run I was getting 35mpg dependent on the gradient of the hills. All these 42 mpg + are dreamers or sitting at 50 mph all along the motorway

Well the computers might be out anyway. 145 miles in mine costs about £22, but on motorways the computer eventually reads (after about 145-150 miles, funnily enough) 40mpg. However, a few people on here claim to be getting high 30s in mixed driving... and I don't see how that's doable!

Best I have had is 36-38 on the motorway but that was setting it as soon as I filled up and did a little bit of town driving. (plus giving at a few blasts along the way:eek: ).
Arn't the 172's meant to be slightly better than the 182's on fuel?

  Clio 200
when i brought the clio up from london to glasgow over 400 miles it took £55 but if you drive it at 60 on the motorway with cruise control on it will go into mid 40mpg

OK. I'll take a picture next time. Its dropped now because I've done 2 days getting to work and back through stop start traffic. It now on 39mpg. I certainly wasnt hanging around at 50 on the motorway. The average speed was nigh on 60 over a 170 mile trip with one stop a Leigh Delemere services for 10 mins. My trip computer is reset everytime I fill up becuase I'm a geek and like to see what I'm getting.

Fill up before that was 31.9 mpg

I get about 80 miles to a tenner with a light foot. How much are you paying for petrol though!! I pay 103.9 for super at sainsburys.

During the summer on a trip from one end of the M4 to the other, at a constant 70 on the cruise (which is what, 66-67 in real figures?) I got a constant 46mpg

Atm I'm getting high 30s at roughly the same speed

Some of us don't sit at 90 for miles on end :p

  Golf R soon...
I did a trip to Derby and back saturday just gone, about 220 miles in total, probably used 3/4 of a tank.

Majority of the way there was at 75mph with the cruise contol on.

Agreed. Achieving 42-44mpg in a 182 is only possible if your not exceeding 2000rpm, are at a constant speed on the motorway throughout and whacking it in neutral for downhill gradients. Either that or you've not got a very thirsty car.

But 145 miles I would say around £20 of your petrol stations finest premium unleaded :)

At last someones commented on the £1.14 per litre!!

Tescos in Huddersfield - 99.9 :)

It gave me a shock when I saw the price!!!! Just the BP in town, it's just a convenient place to get it as I didn't have time to go the other direction to find a supermarket, but Surrey isn't cheap!

Correct! I'm paying almost 115 in the Shell garage on the A217 in Burgh Heath.

  172 mk2 Iceberg
16 quid if you drive under 75mph.......
could go up to 25 quid if you put your foot down
this is using the 95 ron too

  peugeot 106 gti

That's the garage I normally use! I thought the Shell was usually a bit cheaper too!

Didn't realise there was such a huge difference!!

I can get my computer to say 78.2 MPG on a 60mile trip mixed m'way, A road and town. lol! (reset at fill up! not on the move!)

but if it makes you feel any better, i used to sit at 110 - 120 for same 60mile trip in my 1.8VTi Civic and that gave me about 19 MPG.

so in all honesty there are so many variables even when comparing the same car:

- how you accellerate
- how fast you cruise
- how many hills
- outside temp
- tyre pressure
- what you got in your boot
- How much do you (the driver) weigh
- any passengers
- how clean is the car
- traffic encountered
- grade of petrol used
- HOW MUCH PER LITRE
- did you use the A/C

The list goes on. The best way to know for sure, is to do it yourself.

HTH
