182 problems...Grrrr!! (pics)

Hi there,

Well, as some of you may remember, i posted a couple of weeks ago about my car being keyed. And by the looks of things the luck has not ended there. Went to a garage to get it repaired and they did a good job of most the scratches but then screwed up and went too deep on the door... therefore was free. Fine.. but the only thing that will fix it is a £300 repray for just the door!!

Then once i get over that, yesterday i noticed a dent just passed the passenger door which chipsaway say they wont do. Getting Acci-dent to have a look- £45-£60.

And then to top it off, washing the car today and noticed that the fog light was smashed ££££!!!!! Brilliant !!

Plus, my front tyres are hovering over 1.6mm in the middle so i take it i should change them soon... More £££

Also, i noticed a bit of condensation on the headlamp... should i take it in for warrenty.

Well, looks like its gonna be an expensive couple of weeks as i am having a Bad Ass alarm installed tommorow and have bought a few "toys" on credit card... Oops!!

Anyone know how much a new fog lamp is? The bulb still works but i take it its not just a case of replacing the glass?

Or how to get rid of the scuff without repraying??

Justin - spoke to lass from work today, her dad needs to see the car to see how much blending will be required for the painting.

He will be cheaper than £300 - he painted my back bumper for £90 for instance.

fog's are about £80 each.... they are sealed units! if it's any consolation they are very easy to fit.

fog's are about £80 each.... they are sealed units! if it's any consolation they are very easy to fit.

Is that £80 off renault.. So if i bought independently i could fit it myself quite easily?

He works at a bodyshop in Edinburgh - the name escapes me but he has done RX7s and I'm sure he did Karen pink Tigra......

Yes thats Reno' don't think you can get them anywhere else. tried to get mine from Europarts but got one of the bigger ones on the MK1 ... they said thats all they do.

let me know if you do find them cheaper tho'.... my daughter has one cracked on her 182 too.

Sounds promising then... was at renault earlier in the week and thought i would ask what they would charge and yet again... no straight answer. One guy says 350-400 for all the side as they wont be able to colour match it and another says £200 for just the side. But i dont think i would trust renault with that calibre of job...

being silver its very hard to blend, its needing the whole door blended, and wont ba as bad as the dent on the rear quarter is on the same side so it can be blended in to that, so in theory it'll be just one side sprayed, the front wing-door is always a different match as you cant match exactly due to the wings being plastic.

Yeah, Ive heard silver is hard for blending.... what were you saying about the dent, didnt quite grasp it..sorry. The pics are all taken on the passenger side.

I had terrible key damage on my rear quarter, and it cost £150 to get repaired. Racing blue is difficult to blend being a solid colour, but they did a fantastic job. Shame it got scratched again in the same place last week, and on the roof .

I also have a car park ding on the passenger side but it can stay there, although I found a firm that took a small dent out of my bonnet for £25 - so I'd say shop around, get a few quotes.

My headlights get steamed up too, I wondered about taking it in myself. Also my suspension rattles when I take right hand bends and roundabouts, I'll have to get that looked at.

You've had some real bad luck lately, what a nightmare for you Cars are so expensive at times.

I had a steamy headlight replaced under warranty. Lincoln Renault said that compensation was normal, so would not replace. Nottingham Renault just replaced it no problems. Been fine ever since

Is the condensation normal? We have condensation in our 182's front headlights and the garage said theres only a 6 month warranty on these and so we have to pay to have them replaced.

The lights are not sealed units so Renault say some condenataion after driving in the rain is normal. Should dry out fairly quickly though.

There is some plugs or something that seal them that sometimes fall out/off according to another thread and let water in.

Ebay mate for the fog light, got 1 the other day for the 182 @£32 inc postage. Looks a b*****d 2 fit though as cant get a torx bit on it without taking the wheel and liners off.

argh i feel sorry for you man!
sort of through the same stage as well, mot, tax, tyres, new windscreen!
i got a foglight from my scrappy for £20, could have a cup bumper, both fogs and surrounds, grill and splitter for £100! bargain
