182 rear shock. Warranty??

  RenaultSport clio 182
My 04 182 with cup pack is currently with my local renault dealer who were checking out the rear suspension.. Just had a call to tell me that it needs a new shock absorber and this is NOT covered by warranty as it is general wear and tear. The car is just 2yrs old with 21k! I understand this is a common fault so if anyone else has experienced this then please tell me your thoughts on whether I should try and get this sorted under warranty.. Thanks..

Tell them to ring Renault UK its a common failure and although shocks are wear and tear it shouldn't wear after such a short time.

If they won't or don't bother ring Renault yourself and tell them to ring the dealership.

My rear ones were replaced on mine during 3rd year. Car is unmodified but they said it wasn't covered by warranty. They did say they'd contribute 75% costs though.

Exactly the same happened to me 9K on the clock and the rear left started leaking fluid. I moaned and moaned and got it replaced. 2 weeks later the right hand side started. Dealership didnt want to replace it but I gave them hell in the middle of their service dept.

Bearing in mind this was Birmingham and there must have been 15 people in the queue to hear this. I was saying that the quality of the cars was crap, service was appauling etc etc. (2 blokes walked straight out the door saying they werent having their cars done their! LOL)

As soon as the manager saw I was kicking off he just said to replace them to shut me up I think! Just make a scene - no branch wants to get a bad rep. Make sure its about 8.30 in the morning when everyone drops their car off as well! :D

Happened to me also at 12k. Make sure that they replace both at the same time.

The OE units are crap, mine snapped. And I had a big moment with the back end stepping out on me at speed.

I've no confidence in those dampers. So I've put coilovers on now.

Nice one ^^^^ Glad you got it sorted for free , as you should do :)

The inconsistency of some Renault dealerships is unbelievable , they don't seem to have a clue what is or isn't covered by the warranty .
