one local tyre place has told me to just run with it in if it is loosing 4psi over 1 week. Much safer than repairing it as a repair near the edge could reult in a blow out if it becomes loose.
Anyone agree with this, Just keep it in until the front 2 need changing then get all 4 tyres changed at once? Or is this going to slow the car down, (me not having as much confidence and hence driving slower)?
when I get the tyre/tyres changedshould I request the tracking to be done too or is this not needed on tyre changes?
Liam I dont know who told you this but the bit about just leaving the screw in and running it is "ABSOLUTE RUBBISH"
Change it and change it NOW.
Although they are rite about the screw being in/or close to the side wall it CANNOT be repaired.
The reason is this.........there is a layer of reinforced rubber goes all the way over the tyre...........it is this part that makes it tubeless......now on the side walls the reinforcing material only goes accross and its NOT metallic............whereas in the tread not only is the material mentioned above there but also the metallic fabric..........there are 2 layers of this which are at 90deg to each other................so there is plenty of strength and this is why a nail in the tread can safely be repaired.............this also why the tyre is called radial............here endeth the lesson
