182 Speedo Sensor?

Now then chaps, got the pleasant job of doing a gearbox swap on a 182 for a m8. He's managed to wreck the 182 box and has a 172 box as a replacement. Anyway, my question is the 172 box has the speedo sensor in the back but I can't see it on the 182 box. I'm guessing it runs from somewhere else?

Any ideas where this would be as he doens't want to lose the speedo function.

Cheers Ashy.

The gearbox he's got is for a 172 Cup which doesn't have ABS to pick the speedo up from hence the mech speedo drive, its the wrong box. Wants to be a JC5-130 box for a 182, although you may still be able to use it. It'll be slightly weaker than the 182 box and will have a circlip diff retainer which isn't as hot as the bolted one on the later 182 box.

How's he killed the old box out of interest? F&F shifts?

not sure how he's killed it, hes a mate of a mate so dont know him that well... Just doing it as a favour. I'll ask him when he dropps it off tho :)

So the crack is the 172 box will fit and the speedo sensor has nothing to do with the gearbox anyway so jobs a good un?

Sounds good to me :)

Cheers Guys.

It should fit yes and you can ignore the speedo sensor as its not used but its not the right box.
