182 Starting Issues - help!

Car  2004 Clio 182
Hi all!
Recently purchase a 182, and had the belt change done around 300 miles ago (aux, cam and w/p)

First issue with it, so I hope someone can diagnose roughly so that I know how much to expect to fix :(

Changing down a gear on the drive home, and it cut out suddenly, with a suspect whirring sound. Rolled to a halt (gears still working fine), and when turning over it doesn't fire in the slightest, and sounds a little different to normal I'd say. Injector issue?

I've attached the link of the attempted start....

STOP sign also illuminated when it happened, but if I remember right was off when I tried starting it after... :/

oh dear:confounded: bad news on that one i'm afraid. classic lack of compression sound to it.

probably, chances are one or more of the pulleys have slipped and taken out a load of valves. seen it quite a few times where something goes pear shaped within couple of thousand miles of having belts done.

Suspect incorrect fitment? The place I had it done wasn't a Renault specialist, so could be a resultant of that?
if it is caused by not fitting the belts correctly, that is the 3rd one on here, in a few months to fail.. contact
RichieJA ..he knows all about belts slipping..his cars belt slipped a few weeks ago, wrecked the engine..he only just bought the car, the last owner ,had the belts done my a none specialist..

Cheers for the replies guys, had a sinking feeling it was related with the belt, but hoped for a simple fuelling issue.
I've fortunately just moved near bournemouth so I'll k-tec a shout tomorrow, and also get in touch with the garage that fitted it all (470 miles ago - f**k sake) in a hope for them to reimburse the damage done. Not what I need!

Thanks again for all your inputs
