182 starting problem ?

I've got a 04 182 which has been faultless since i bought it in the beginning of the year,even today is drove fine :S

parked up after work at 5.30pm and went to nip to the shop 20 mins ago and its dead :dapprove: its unlocks fine,immobiliser light goes out,but wont turn over ?

on the dash a red stop light is highlighted and there is a click everytime i turn the key from under the glove box,anyone had same problems or any idea what it could be ?

battery seems ok,all electrics work fine and lights are still really bright

It seems as though the clicking under the glovebox is cutting power

what could cause it to sort or immobilise itself but then be fine the next day :S and any ideas what the clicking under the glovebox could be as its not doing it now :S

Had this once. Was literally on the phone to my recovery service, thought I'd try one more time and it came on! Hasn't done it again, so atm I've put it down to just being a one off lol

went to work and done a battery test on it and it came up weak,so i replaced the battery just have to see how it goes

Everytime i turn ignition i get a click from a black box under the glovebox and car wont even turn over its as though its immobilised :S

Thats just a relay. I'd check your new battery, if its flat/low you might have an alternator problem meaning the battery isn't charging.

Battery is fine as already checked

I had a similar problem years ago on a different car turned out to be a fuel pump relay.

mine did this recently and the fuel cut off switch had tripped under the bonnet (the red button near the battery) i pressed it tried the car again and it started first time

clios have a problem with a bank of 3 black relays, im pretty sure one of these gives starting problems, the part number ends in '484' and every dealer will have at least 1 in stock if not more

im not certain where they actually are, but they sometimes have corrosion on them so wont be inside the car

They are located near the fuses in the engine bay which are to the right of the battery when looking at the car. Can't remember which one it is tbh but they are very cheap relays so you could replace all 3 of the black relays as they are the same so doesn't matter where each one goes.

i had to get 1 of them relays as my cooling fan stopped working on my old car!

pulled 1 out and ended up breaking down outside the stealers where the relay was corroded!

they are like 12quid each iirc inc vat and usually all 3 are replaced! try that mate!

Did you sort this mate think im having the same problem.

Had a bump in my car, used the lights hazzards etc till battery went dead.

Car now wont turn over.

had the same problem changed my battery , and its fine starts everytime and now my aircon works which didnt work for a whole year lol funny cars these 182's

got mine off here but you need to register and be patient,got mine within a couple of hours

it only seems to do it after my esp has been turned off for a while then going to start the car an hour or so later and nothing,maybe its over heating relay or similar ?

find a group of 3 relays, usually black, the part number on them ends in 484, check they are clean, quite common to corrode
