182 suspension - questions

I know there must be some people that know about 182 suspension on here, so I have some questions.

1. Is the suspension setup the same on the 182(cup pack) and the 172 cup ?
2. I know there are numerous differences between the non cup and cup models (different hubs wider track etc) but are the struts the same dimensions (I know the rates are different) - ie do third party shocks/springs for the 172 fit the 182cup ? (I can only find 2 type advertised as 182)
3. I thought I read somewhere that the Top Mounts were different between the 182 and 172 ?
4. What makes the front track wider on the 182cup ? Is it the hub carriers - I assume the distance between the bottom ball joints is the same as on the normal version otherwise if were more the camber would be more negative, right ?
5. Has anyone had any problems with the orignal front shocks ?

My 182 (12000) seems to bump steer very badly now its worn, and its getting worse, it also pulls slightly to the left as well as making some very strange noises from the left front on full right lock.
I thought maybe I have a problem with the front left strut and have been looking at maybe changing the struts.
Before anyone asks - I have jacked it up and checked for play in the bottom ball joint, bottom arm bushes, wheel bearing, suspension bolts, top mounts, rack and rack ends - all seems ok.

Please dont advise me to take it to renault - they couldnt even see the crack 3/4 way round the CAT until I showed it to them.

1) Nope chnages in hubs etc and dampers and springs.
2) Struts are different on the 182 cup and none Cup packs. You cna modif 172 suspension bits to fit a 182 all you need to do is drill the bolt hole a little bit bigger (4mm) then you can use any 172 suspension kit. Theres only 3 182 kits out at the moment all are coilovers Blistein (via Yozzasport), Leda or Gaz.
3) Yep top mounts are different I think from memory.
4) No idea the exact parts chnages but hub bolt spacing is different. If you have a 182 none cup pack the 172 suspension bits fit straight on as hub spacing is the same if you have a Cup suspension pack then the spacing is 4mm different.
5) Yes 182 shock in particular seem poor the rear ones usually leak though.

Probably catching the arch liner on full lock check the liner is in place as it can come undone.
Check tyre wear as this seems to make a big different. Then get a garage to do the tracking etc loads of Renault garages are useless at doing it should only cost £35 or so.
