182 ,The dent machine

  renault clio 182 cup

Has anyone noticed how easy the 182 dents,i have only had the car since the 1st march and already noticed 3 YES 3 dents on the car .
What really annoys me is that 2 of the dents are on one of the doors and cant be rolled out as the dent massager can not gain access as metal strip in the way.im sure the car is made of tin foil.
Great performance but rubbish bodywork

thats why you can buy new 182s for 12k, and a new golf gti would set you back 21k, people forget that the cliosport is really quite a cheap performance car and hence is built cheaply too :)

mine hasnt got any, but I never park in dodgy areas. ALways take up two spaces and get there early at work for best spots lol.

New developments in paintless dent removal are now allowing dents to be pulled out rather than pushed out. Not sure how many companies have taken up the new system, but it works really well. Previously companies went behind the dent to push it out, so needing access to the panel and making it almost impossible to sort it the panel was double skinned. Noe though using some special glue, and some small plugs that stick to the outside of the panel, the dents are pulled out.

Got a tiny parking dent already on my 05 182cup, really gets on my nerves how people can be so stupid.
at least theres the bump strips on the doors.

Imagine having no bump strips like Alfas etc, no ta!

Just gotta park very wearily, Id much rather walk an extra 100 Yards than pay out for bodyshop work

Be carefull with taking 2 spaces as some people will react badly to it and you run the risk of getting keyyed etc. I always make sure i never park next to the right of a decent car thats likely not to have kids.

Over here in Madrid, even if you leave the slightest gap, some housewife with her Renault Espace full of spotty rich kids will jam into the gap any which way, and then watch her precious ones ram their doors into your nice bodywork.

I always park miles away and look for the larger spaces ... however, if there is even the slightest chance that two cars might fit parked with the doors/bumpers touching, I find another one.

if its a van / 4wd - dont park next it, if its got a babyseat in it - dont park next it...

if you park in 2 spaces I agree your gonna piss someone off and get a dent thrown in for free when they kick your car.

Park next an expensive alfa, mercedes, porsche which has no bump strips on the doors. Park in the end space to half the risk... be prepared to walk and piss the GF off.

There are definately 3 ripples on the drivers door at the handle height looking down. Not dents but minor ripples. Must be there during fabrication process...?

NO DINTS IN MINE........................ YET.

2 USED TYRES HUNG ON EITHER SIDE OF THE CAR AFTER PARKING HAVE DONE THE TRICK.

Tell me about it, as soon as we picked it up, it has felt like we have been driving around with a giant bullseye on the car. I have had two dents pulled out of the passengers side, one where someone opened it onto a lamp post, one from a golf ball. I have polished out a dink from a prat opening their car door onto it in a car park. and now this http://forum.cliosport.net/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=2&TopicID=149088&PagePosition=1http://forum.cliosport.net/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=2&TopicID=149088&PagePosition=1

Sometimes I think about flogging it and getting something I dont care about. I wouldnt mind but we had a 1.2 fiesta for 4 years, not one bump scratch or anything. Now we care about the car it has come under attack.

I know its sounds stupid but think about the way you close your door ,do you put your fingers under the handle and but your thumb on the bodywork above,im sure thats how i got mine

Im really conscious of small parking dents in my car, im extremely picky where i park and will take a while finding a good space away from every other car.

These things will happen though, luckily its easy enough to sort. If everyone was as careful as me with their doors Id be a very happy man...........

Had mine for a year now, NO doors dings or kirbed alloys yet, Just a dent in the bonnet that the mailto:tw@t">tw@t from Autoglass left after closing the bonnet(pushing it down with his hands rather than dropping it closed) mailto:w@anker">w@anker

I believe a lot of ppl have done that ie push it down rather than dropping it. On plenty of other cars you can push it without any dents, but as has been said its a reno and theres nothing you can do apart from paying more for better car - but not in terms of fun though!

i no exactly what u mean about parking dents, it happens to all my mates. luckily i dont drive mine during the week and if i do on a weekend, i squeeze into tight spots with posts either side, or a mile away away from everything!lol. it pisses u off carless ppl who dont give a sh*t about their or other peoples cars. Ours are like our pride and joy....theirs just get them from A 2 B

you should see the new seat ibizas panels. by far the most flimsy panels ive ever worked on. you can push the rear quarter in an inch with 1 finger, same with the doors

could be an advantage though, especially if it bends straight back;)

easier to dent service panels which are sound tho, if its piss flimsy your gonna get highspots all over the place, plus if they was solid in the first place you wouldnt get the dents! lol. possibly the most structuraly sound car ive worked on was a golf r32. seriously, these cars are built to last, they are SOLID, love em

has anyone had a dent taken out above a 182 door handle before as i have been told its not possible due to metal strip in the way

  Ford Fiesta

not heard of any on that part of the clios Steve.

Is it actaully a "dent" or a bodywork inperfection? can you feel it, any pics?

Liam i think they have been caused by the way i have been shutting the doors,i put my fingers under the handle and my thumb on the bodywork above trying to avoid the door from slamming so just shows how thin the panels really are.cant feel them but when looking down side you can see them.have you got the same.

Does anyone shut there doors the same,if so have you noticed any rippling above door handles.

Ive got a few dents, tiny scratches on my car. Only had the car 6 weeks and I swear they werent there when I bought it. :(

I plan on waiting a while then popping along to a specialist place to get all the dents, scratches and kurbed alloys sorted out.

You should count yourselves lucky- i parked mine up at my local homebase, came back to find someone had rammed it with a trolley taking gouges of plastic out right by the headlight

When I look down the side I can see 3 ripple areas yeah. Just above the door handle line but slightly further forwards. I shut the door just using the handle so can be caused by me closing it. It may be they are just manufacturing marks on yours as I believe mine are.

I had a real dent taken out of my last clio and I could still see where it had been. Prob better than what my 182 door is now but only just hence I dont see the point getting anyone out. As you say cant feel them and can only see them by the way light reflects off them areas, well at least on mine anyway. I think there is even one on the passenger door. They cant be from other car doors as they would be more serious and as I said I only shut with the handle so who knows.

If you look at bonnets of clios that have been to renault delaers a few times you can see ripples on them where they have pushed them shut instead of drop shutting them!

None of these on mine yet luckily.

Wouldnt you think of all people the Renault mechanics would know not to push down on the bonnet of clio?

I have a dent on my bonnet unluckily :(

Another thing, havent all Clios been to the dealer afew times ;)

No dents for me yet - but washed it last night and spotted 2 tiny stone chips on the front edge of the bonnet and a pair of tiny scuffs on the side skirt just below the passenger door... Noooooo!

Scuffs should come out with a little scratch X, will probably leave chips for now - theyre bound to be joined by a few friends, with the filthy B-roads I go to work along!

If I go to the supermarket I generally take my old escort (which has got an enormous number of dings from inconsiderate folks) and if Im in the clio its parksafe everytime (car park in Derby - apparently one of the 10 safest places on Earth!) as they have sensors to stop it being nicked, and many spaces have big foam door protector bars hanging between them. Also the fact that a lot of the other cars in there are also nicer/better cared for types is good for me! GF says Im paranoid about it though - and parks it under a tree at work !

lol yeah being renaults suppose. New ones though dont have them. Mine doesnt either. Will make a point of asking them to drop shut it when it goes in.

that car park in Derby sounds good, wish there were more like that, foam pads to prevent dents!!

my mate wants to know how those rally 206s at silverstone get ragged everyday on a dirt/gravel track and dont dont have a mark on them, yet his evo8 which is driven once or twice a month has stone chips everywhere???
