182 the slowest

Just looking @ the stats on the cliosport homepage and the 182 comes in slowest, no surprise as its the heaviest by a good 50 odd kilos.

now i know its not all straight line speed etc... but im surprised that reno took the fractionally slower route.

The 182 isnt as heavy as the 172 @ 1090kg.

its actually the fastest front engined clio renault have ever sold. (in some areas)

traction control makes it quicker to 60 than Cup, but only fractionally slower to 100 (a length or so)

+ sharper handling than all previous cars!

Not got anything to do with esp. as the runs are conducted with it off.

The traction control is sh*te, I would say it makes you slower if anything

One 182 has done 60 in 6.3 the same 182 did 6.5 when tested by another mag.

You are right the cup is lighter at 1021kg vs the 182 1090kg (172 is 1110kg)

specs from cliosport homepage:

182............1090Kg........7.1................139

172Mk1......1035............6.8................138

172Mk2.......1035...........6.9................138

cup.............1021............6.7................138

Indeed.

You can thank the 205/45 Pilot Exalto 2 tyres, better grip for standing starts.

cheers guys didnt want to start a sh*t storm ..surely the cup would do those times also if driven by a pro including the 172? anyways lets all get sh*tfaced!!!

i wasnt trying to cause a punch up, just seems to be descrepencies between times posted in different places. surely reno would publish the best times they could possibly get away with, with this type of car.

I would say they dont use the very best times as most people wont acheive the same and think that renault are fibbing

No, those stats aint quite right for a start...

The 182 is heavier than a mk1 172 or a Cup, but lighter than a mk2 172.

As for acceleration, its the fastest 0-60, and the Cup is fastest 0-100 but they are so close youd be swapping wing mirrors!

No, its because that the Exaltos are better than the Contis!

If you have the ESP turned on and try to do a fast launch it will slow you down...

agreed it all depends what mags you read and what you choose to believe, iv seen 0-60 times for the 182 as 7.1, 6.9 and iv also seen people quoteing 6.5 and 6.3.

at the end of the day there all nice cars and all about the same speed, and unless your going round a track or down somehtign like santa pod your prolly never going to notice the diff anyway

  Ziel Nurburgring

Its all a bit childish fighting over 1/2 a second (Which only exists on paper and never in the real world). 172/182 and cups are aimed at different market segments, but perform much the same on the road (Agreed, very different on a track).

I cant believe the cliosport website has got their own stats wrong...lol

There too busy watching us kids to update.

The fastest 0-60 i saw was in autocar-6.3

The fastest 0-100 is in evo which was 17.5 vs 17.7 for the cup

But hey how do you dispute 2/10ths on the road

You cant!

These cars are all so closely matched that its down to whoever is behind the wheel...

Cup is defo quicker (well Yozzas is!!!)

182 handling is a bit scary when you push it!!! Too tail happy IMO

Ive said before similar stats and figures on paper are meaningless once your on the tarmac.

Ive prooved my theory many times with cars such as 172/willy/spyder,CooperS,323/238...etc

traction control being fitted or not has no relevance to 0 to 60 times.

hmm feel a cliosport trackday coming on anyone??

What is the hang-up with the sprint to 60? It doesnt tell you much apart from giving you bragging rights to non-car nut mates at the pub.

The site has the Willy down as 7.7 to 60, which incidentally is wrong - makes the car look slower than its new brethren. But all that is needed is a little knowledge of 1/4 mile times, which is where Willys and 2.0 valvers give the 172/182 crew the frights.

The members area has 1/4 times - go check them out to satisfy your curiosities. Essential viewing.

Yup, the 0-60 time does not tell you the whole story, wheras 0-100 and 1/4 mile let you know a cars true potential...
