182 tryes leave me stranded

  R26

I really like driving with the Michellin PE2 tyres - yeh their great however, returning from holidays last week I jumped in my car to drive from Dumfries upto Edinburgh at about 7pm at night. All is good until I get to roughly Lockerbie when I notice that the tyre feels a bit flat. so on inspecting the tyres I find that - 2 nails in the back left tyre and 3 nails in the back right. What sucks about this is - clearly with the nails so close together they couldnt be repaired. So I check my manual - Renault assistance does not cover punctures, the aerosols only should be used for 12miles and im 70 odd from home. So phone Renault Dumfries, KwikFit, AutoTyres, Renault Carlisle - everywhere you can imagine (in the morning) and low and behold not one supplier can get me tyres to get home without waiting 24 hrs. Kwik Fit etc thats fair enough but the two major Renault dealers down that way (esp Carlisle) dont stock the PE2 tyres - thats f**kING ridiculous. Think im going to have to write to Renault as its one thing being stuck for 1 hr at the side of the road - but 36 hrs - thats un f**king believable.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem ?

Do you not think Renault should stock tryes for their special cars ?

Should I complain ?

It is worrying. When I had mine replaced it took Kwik Fit a week to get them in. They are special order and no one keeps them in stock. Kwik Fit even wanted a cash deposit up front!!!

Some Renault dealers wont even do them. Renault Birmingham (where my last 2 cars have come from) only stock Continental and I think Pirelli!! That really wound me up.

Renault Assistance WILL cover punctures if you upgrade for £50.

Worth it imho.

When I replaced the fronts, I kept the old tyres in case of this problem, at least I could get them swapped over until someone got a new one in stock.

Escobar - they are like rocking-horse sh*t to get hold of m8. I had the similar situation when my rear got nailed - the Reno dealership said oh, we never keep any of those in stock...

I had the same problem mate, (Unrepairable puncture)had to wait 3 days on Renault getting the tyre shipped in, at a cost of £139, robbed, anyway when they finally got the tyre in, they then told me they were to busy to fit it that same day!!!!!

So, from now on i always have a spare tyre in the boot, from http://www.mytyres.co.ukwww.mytyres.co.uk for only £80 delivered.

Thanks guys - definately going to write to Renault UK to complain - how can they justify not stocking a tyre for a car that they make that does not hold a spare as stock/standard ?

- I want answers

- I want justice

- I want compensation

- and most of all - I want a f**king tyre when I need it !!!

lol ( well I can laugh now but far f**king from it at the time)

I was thinking about getting a spare wheel and leaving it in the boot - but the idea of just the spare tyre is a good one. Does anyone know if it would be all right using a standard steel wheel from say a 1.2 clio as a spare in case one of the sixteens on my cup go pop? I take it the wheel would be 14" with what? a 65 depth???
