Loving all the carbon bits oozing out from everywhere!! Where did you order the alcantara from if you don't mind my asking? I'm after some for my daily driver on the front pillars like yours.. There's lots but I want a decent quality.

I have toyed with doing the lining at some point but not sure I can get this fabric in a roll wide enough (not actually checked) and I cba removing it. lol

Removing it is a pain and they're quite fragile, I replaced mine because the lining material was sagging off

Usual winter story, just been cranking the miles again and nothing much to report.

Sold the turinis provisionally and acquired some more standard cup wheels in better nick so tyres will be swapped over the summer and current set sold on.

Mallory Park incoming February 2nd so fitted some semi slicks to spare f1's in case weather is good. And bought some Mintex f3 I think they are pads to try up front for the day.

And took the heap to body shop near me for a giggle to see what cost would be to sort the bad arch........

So now I have no decide if it's worth it on a car that's done silly miles and is probably worth what the quote is... Answers on a postcard, lol!

Seems a fair price to have it done properly.

I look at it as I would only be spending the money on a new car or some pcp deal of some sort.
There’s nothing I’d realistically rather be driving every day that’s anywhere near the amount of fun for what the 182 offers. I’m guessing that’s where you are too, else you wouldn’t spend money keeping this on the road.

£684 quid is likely to be one or two months payments on a high end car the user doesn’t even or ever will own.

If the motor goes pop, the rust will still be there. Get it sorted and enjoy 🙂👌🏼

So did Mallory Park on Saturday, car didn't skip a beat all day again and despite the age of the tyres managed to get some grip. Weather was kind aswell, lovely all day.

Mates k20 converted mk1 dropped a pulley on the aux system when I was in the car and spun us out when it overheated and spat coolant on the rear wheels. That was fun!lol!

Had whale of a time chasing my mate in his 172 as well.

Just before lunch at Mallory, whilst negotiating the hairpin, I heard a metallic clunk and ping, but it down to tyre pickup as when I checked the car over nothing obviously amiss.

Drove to welwyn garden for work and back Monday/Tuesday and tonight just had time to swap back off the track pads and found...

Oops, shed an outer arb bracket, lol

Luckily had some in the shed so easy fix

So road pads back in and sorted, back to the daily grind

No pics but did 211k oil change on the old shed last night, first foray to the Castrol replacement. Pretty confident this is the first none elf oil the engine has seen in its life. Previous owners may be able to confirm...…. end of an era anyway. I know it doesn't actually matter but i'm a bit sad that the elf/Renault partnership has ended

anyway heres a stock photo of some new Castrol/Renault oil like what I put in.

I did think as much, but then thought the hole would be further round, hence me asking.

Cleaned the seat belts again, annual task I always cover off just after the clocks change.

Took the opportunity today to strip, clean and re-grease the rear brakes as one calliper was binding slightly and it's another job i like to do once a year. The rears on the Clio's have been a weak spot, the calliper design harks right back to the R5's i think, so 80's design really.

So rear wheels off, whole lot taken apart, sliders removed, cleaned, seals oiled and re-greased pins. Wound calliper piston out, cleaned, greased. Cables removed from calliper, cleaned and greased. Then all bolts and bolt holes cleaned up with the wire brush and everything reassembled. Not a refurbishment, just preventative maintenance.

Stripped rear, note bumper off too......see next post for that one

As said not a refurb, just general maintenance on a honest, daily motor that will end up ditched in 6 months again anyway so no point going to town on her. Just want it mechanically sound. Note inner pad been dragging, so worn more.....hopefully this will of fixed that!

So whilst the car was up in the air for the rear brakes, thought I'd take the opportunity to whip the rear bumper off, clean everything up and fit the carbon insert and exhaust trims I have had in the shed since last Autumn.

Tried to clean up my tail pipes as best I could, but they're beyond saving, ideally need hacking off and new ones welding on, but not really a major issue on a 200k+ daily car. No idea how old this Janspeed is either, so not surprising its a bit.....worn!

Old versus new, the carbon insert is a full direct replacement for the original, so this is why the bumper needs removing. The clips holding the old one in are seriously heavy duty really for what it is and need to be popped out from the rear with the foam padding removed.

The exhaust trims require bonding to the originals, they are not stand alone direct clip in like the insert.

and chucked back on car, again cleaning up bolts and greasing everything as I went

finished result, Dat ass! With the trophy spoiler and 200 badge I'm proper chuffed with the rear end now, it's basically perfect imo. and lest face it, my car so mo is the only o that counts ;-)

unfortunately I genuinely have no idea, all the carbon i have on the car has been acquired used via the classified on here of fakebook groups, so what company actually made them I do not know!
