I think the 182 is in a different league in terms of performance but TBH have never driven one so cant say. However, power to weight ratio seems in my favour lol....

MR2 (2.0 na) - 114.89 bhp/ton
182 - 167 bhp/ton

I think thats right... feel free to correct me.

I had a Celica in the past, you'll notice the ride height as soon as you get it, you will want to adjust the seat as low as it goes. Then you'll realise how weird the clutch is. Then you'll drive it and realise why you bought it. Then you will hear some rattles...

mr2 n/a's are poo-jar :D if you want serious fun and want to end up in a field get a mr2turbo :)

I've had a race with a mate, me in a 182 and him in his MR2. He had better traction off the line, but as soon as i came on cam, it was good night. I drove it afterwards too, and it just doesn't feel that quick.

Mr2 cluch feels really heavy in comparison and youl feel it exposed in the driving position as the mr2 your quite low down.
Handing is alot better in the clio, and drives like a go kart !

Good move :clown:

What's this about the 182 clutch. I've had a MK1 & MK2 172,and a cupped 182, the clutch is one can always just gently pull away and just use the clutch to control speeds below 4 mph. Then if you want dump it it flys. People should practice clutch control without riding the thing. If you can't pull away cleanly and smoothly without the use of the accelerator then you need to think about your ability to drive.

There is nought wrong with RS Clios clutches. I sit in heavy traffic every day and everyone around me seems unable to control their speed. It is the person driving not any clutch problems.

Have to have a LOL

Ok... but doesnt using just the clutch in traffic not wear it out?

I have no problems balancing the clutch but prefer to use the accel and move in stages rather then moving very slower riding on just the clutch.

I love mr2's, i drove my mates and thought it was really fun, rwd is so cool!
Yes the clio is faster, and better in terms or overall drivability/practicallity

but you gotta love those mr2's

Now an mr2 turbo on the other hand...... That is in a whole new league :)

ive got a 182 and have driven my m8s mr2 turbo and i wasnt that impressed tbh, it was obviously quicker than the 182 but not by much! we had a bit of a race along a twisty section of road and he couldnt get near me on the bends.

the reason i commented on the clutch is that Ive noticed that renault clutches generally feel different, Ive had three renaults, and driven loads more and they all operate differently to say a Ford or Vauxhall, or Toyota

Yeah I was behind an MR2 Turbo that tried leaving me behind and it wasn't pulling away that fast at all. It was from a rolling start off a roundabout at 30 so he didn't get any advantage from the RWD and to be honest he didn't really gain much to 80 (two car lengths) and after that he was pulling away a tad quicker than a CTR would - which ain't that much. I assume it was the least powerful of the turbo models?

My mate has the 170bhp NA model and it is very slow. I used to have a Vectra SRI 150 and it was no quicker than that. In fact my veccy felt quicker as it used to pull so much better from low revs. The MR2 just has a little kick for the last 1000rpm and apart from that it just doesn't feel like it is moving. I have heard many people say that the slightly older 158bhp model is a lot better though due to the spread of power.

The 182 always feels faster than far quicker cars due to the kick and manic torque steer that follows.
