182 wipers - erm, going ga-ga...

Got in the car this morning and used the wipers a bit (never a good place to park is it, under trees?). They worked fine as normal, then a few streaks ran down the screen, so I put the wipers on again to clear it.

Nothing - either on intermittent or full. I tried the washer jets and just got the screen drenched, with no wipers to clear it. I pulled over (not really being able to see anything ) switched the engine off, and fired it back up again. Tried the wipers and they worked fine???

I'm more concerned if this is a prelude to something more drastic going wrong....

My 182 did this the first week I had it. Took it straight into the garage and they couldnt find anything wrong with it. Touch wood I have never had the same problem again.

I had this. It was because one of the nuts on the Wiper Arm had come loose. Once tightened, all worked fine. May be worth checking.

Mine had a water leak into the UCH, check passenger side footwell for damp.

Yup, I've had my 172 wipers do a similar thing. Intermittant stopped working and the SERV light came on. Turned the car off and back on again and everything worked just fine. Was about a month ago, never done it since.

About a week ago, was on my way to work along the m62, peeing down, going steady at 70 in the outside lane.....

and my driver side wiper decided to snap off! Not just the blade, the actual arm had sheared off just above the spindle!

Got towed to renault manchester, and found out how good there customer service was.
Didnt start off to well, "give us your keys and number, we will ring you when its done. Can we call you a taxi?, we might not be able to look at your car till tomorrow"

Arseholes i think; heated argument follows!
I go home in disgust.
Phone up later that day, and its ready for collection
