19 16v ecu in a valver

My Matey is a mechanic and his workmate has a chipped ecu for a ren 19 16v. Now i know its the same engine but would this work in my valver? Hes a mechanic and says it will but im un-sure! Also he says its just a case of pluggin it in- is this right?

Paul16v was using a 19 16v chip in his valver before its 2.0 conversion IIRC. I dont think it revved all the way to 7200 though...

iv got a 19 ECU in my vlaver and it works fine. whether the chip would work is another thing. iv known a couple of people inc paul16v to try it with a chip that was for the 19 and the car wouldnt start!

u may as well try it. only a 5 min job to change it!

Just a case of unplugging and re-plugging mate. if the engine doesnt fire up then it dont work. Cant see it not working tho. Good luck

No chance of damaging the car, but it may well not work.

Theres about 8 versions of the ECU for F type engines, and theyre not all interchangeable. I know as I had a chipped ECU that worked fine on one 19 but wont fire up the engine in my other 19.. Give it a go. If it fires your in business, if it doesnt - then I wouldnt buy it! lol :D
