197 gearbox noise and engine tap

Recently purchased a clio 197. I was driving with the windows down in between some houses and could hear the gearbox making a whining sort of noise as I let off the accelerator. Soon as I accelerate it goes quiet. Is that normal? Also I can hear a slight tappet kind of noise when driving. Any help would be appreciated

Also get a slight vibration through the pedals when at high speed?

Wheels balanced?
Tyres good?

Possibly a driveshaft
Possibly a gear box issue.

4 new tyres. The tracking is slightly out. Guna try get that done tomorrow. Bedfordshire mate

Can you hear the whine with the windows up?

No mate. Only when I'm driving close to the houses really. It selects gears good when driving normal and when giving it the beans

These have a carbon canister like the 182/172, I assume they do. That could be the noise your hearing, or just noisy injectors which isn't too uncommon

Mine makes a sort of Whiney noise at high revs, but I assume you're not screaming past these houses?

Is they tappy noise coming from the gearbox?

Noo just cruising past. If I didn't have my window down I problem would of ever picked up on it. And no the tappet noise is coming from the engine but it's very slight tappet noise. Nothing real loud.

I took my old man out in it and he's a petrol head aswell. Asked him to listen to the noises. And he said to me it isn't a f*****g rolls Royce and said if it ain't broke why try fix something that hasn't broke
