197 starting problems

i'm having probs with my '06 197- i've worked out after it happening quite a few times now that when i park my car and leave it for around an hour and then go back to start it, it just wont fire up. i press the start button and the car seems to 'churn' away but wont actually fire up. when it first started happening i could leave it for 10-15 mins and it would go again but now after being stranded last night waiting on green flag to rescue me (and then it started as the guy took it off the back of the lorry at home!) it appears to be getting worse.
it is, however, completely fine when i get in it after its been parked all day at work.
its obviously going back to the dealer this week to be fixed but just wondered if anyone has ever heard of this prob before or have any idea what it could be?

i'd be willing to bet its the crank sensor.

aye me thinks the same.
happened to my old mk1, very annoying.

give it a clean, bit of wd40 (degreaser) clean the contacts and make sure they are making good contact

yeh ma m8 had probs for months and months and turned out to be the crank sensor
