After 7 years away from Clio's I bought this 197 Turbo a week ago.

It needs a few bits sorting.
-Remap and 630 injectors.
-Brake pads, braided lines and maybe a refurb of the calipers.
-Interior tidying up.
-Track wheels/tyres.
-Suspension.

Spec.
-Low mileage megane 225 engine/gearbox.
-250 Turbo.
-Mark Fish cage.
-Buckets with Sabelt harnesses and Sabelt wheel.
-"Big" intercooler and hard pipe kit.
-Miltek exhaust and decat.

It was converted by a specialist.

Looks good mate! Welcome back! I think the last time I saw you was when you had the black ph1 on the red wheels!

That must be 9 years ago? You had an exclusive and we went for a drive out with Daz (think that was his name)? Time flies!

I drive a Navara daily and I've put the Boxster away for the Winter. Plan is to sort a few little jobs out on the Clio and get it on track.

I'm just looking a pads, do you think M1155's on the front and standard on the rear? What do you use on your Saxo?

Looks good mate. Welcome back. Really love the look of 197’s compared to the later 200 front ends. Bet they go well with the turbo’d motor upfront. Would love to drive one.

I run a 250 engined Clio, but I think the 225 conversion, is more than enough. Nice car you have there,

With the 630 injectors should I see around 300bhp/300lb after a remap? Because that would be more than enough.

It obviously depends on map, but you should see around 285bhp,310lbb torque, as that is what I had on my R26, which one of my sons now has.

  535d / t5 caravelle
i had 296 bhp/320lbft in an r26, was plenty powerfull enough.

What set up was that Bill? Similar to mine with the 630 injectors?

  535d / t5 caravelle
full k-tec 3" exhaust
k-tec intercooler
filter
hard pipe kit
630 injectors
stage 2 rs tuning map

was more than quick enough to get you in ( and out ) of trouble lol. overtaking was a breeze!

Looks like a fun way to humble newer hot hatches. Standard looking 197 with a great big kick. Maybe see you at some Yorkshire meets next year?

Mine's Running 304bhp/298lb/ft, you'll need a 3" exhaust system if you haven't got one already. 630's 265 turbo. We brought the torque down to keep it safe. Mapped by Chris at Efi.

Looking good Ed, will keep an eye out for you mate

Thanks for the help with the brakes George! I have got everything fitted along with some matt black Laguna wheels with NS2R's on them. I read the reviews on the tyres but thought I'd give them a go. It's ready for a remap now.

No worries mate! Get them bedded in properly when get chance.

They're decent for their cost, think you can only get the harder compound now so should wear ok aswel

there's RS Tuning in Leeds, or EFI in Runcorn know their stuff

I'll get the map/injectors sorted and then do some videos.

The clio went to RS Tuning a couple of weeks ago for injectors and a map. Paul was very good and highlighted a few cooling issues with the car which are being sorted.

It made 247BHP with the standard 225/250 set up and before fitting the injectors Paul had that up to 286BHP. The 630 injectors were fitted and we left with a usable 282BHP but with the option for that to be increased.

I did Blyton Park on Sunday, it was my first track day and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had this out at a charity track day at Blyton on Wednesday of this week, it was my first track day of the year.

It developed a misfire last week that was sorted with new sparks and coils.

It was a wet morning and the Clio was useless on the NS-2R's. I certainly need to look at some different tyre options if its going to rain....

The front wiper motor linkage failed so we had to go down to one wiper.

I still need to look at an uprated radiator/fan set up.

With respect, before you go any further, are you running the Clio Rad, if so, go to the 225 Rad, as its a little larger, and with the 250 engine in mine, I do not suffer any overheating, even on track.I would strongly recommend to check the fan is blowing the right way, mine was sucking air FROM the engine compartment, through rad,INSTEAD of sucking it from outside through the rad, and its not the first time this has happened to people. Keep us posted.

It is still the Clio radiator and fan set up, so it does need to be upgraded to the 225. I have got all of the bits.....

Left to its own devices the fan won't kick in until 103C. It has got a switch so I generally keep the fan on when it's over 90C on track.
