well i hadn't seen before (even though i knew autocar had done the test). i really do like the r26, but was surprised that the r32 didn't make it into the final 6 or 7. as for the type-r...well, if anything, i think it looks quite good.

it was a hot hatch test and i think they thought the r32 was too grown up.

Think they were testing for thrills and spills if you know what i mean.

I thought that, didn't really go into any details of 0-60 times, 60-0 times, lap times etc etc.

Awesome line up though, but the R32 and S3 are well overpriced compared to the rest. Rip off. Theres a blue S3 for sale at preston audi for 30 odd grand

stock R32 sounds awesome, is built amazing and looks good. also has the badge, S3 is the same although doesnt sound as good but is equal in every other way and better in some others.

which would you choose ? S3 or R32 ?

well yea, you say that. but the S3 with its 2.0T FSI engine will map to 310-320 with cooler and exhaust and have quattro to put it down i.e evo pace but with better quality, refinement and class.

just that V6 golf sound is so sexy, especially with a miltek

i would have picked the meggy even before i saw the result of the vid. there is no such thing as a solid hot hatch. its a contradiction in terms, solid = heavy weight and dent in nimbleness.

Id go for the meggy, and if money was no object I go for the S3 for the build quality and re-map results....

Fair play to the meg I guess. Never liked S3s, but if they're good they're good. Rather save the cash and get a 197 tbh. Good enough for me!

The R32 is just under 25k std the S3 is 27k std before discounts, the S3 has heated leather as std a optioin on the R32, so price wise theres not much in in!

The build and finish on the Audi is better than the VW! ( a bold statement )

I think it comes down to V6 growl or 2.0T tunning?

I'm getting mine RR next month to see what its putting out, they seem to be around 275-285bhp std!

With a bit of luck these cars will go to 350bhp!

Can't wait!
