1st service on 182

  Golf Mk6 Oil Burner

£165 + £29 for the pollen filter

The oil said 10w40 elf premier semi s. Is this the right stuff? Anyone else had different oil put in from a dealer?

  2008 Golf GTI Edition 30

No idea what went into mine!!! It didnt say, but I did pay a similar amount.

I paid £175 in pollen filter, but no air filter as I have the PiperCross Viper.

The guy told me it was £33 for the oil which it a bit of a rip off! + there would have been a charge for disposing of old oil.

Could have filled it up with mobil 1 for that.

The oil is the same as for the V6..............Elf Excellium LDX 5W40.............the only way to be sure that they are puting in the correct oil is to supply your own..............the following are the contact details of where to get it and how much it costs...............works out about £2.60 per litre............so here are the details: -

Call 01977 603363 and ask for Debra and mention ClioSport..............24lts of Elf Excellium LDX 5W40 fully synthetic £64.01 delivered.

Im just waiting on word back from Debz about gearbox oil...........you might have seen the thread about G/Box oil so watch this space for more savings;)

ahh ok, so each time you get it serviced, just take (insert number here) of bottles to the dealer with you.

Yeah Coco thats exactly it just take 3 bottles with you..............there would be a small amount left which could be used for topping up if needed eh;)

Most dealers seem to charge between £52 & £62 just for the oil and you don,t know what they have put in as a number of forum members will tell you..............the price quoted above of £33 is the exception to the rule I would question what they have put in myself.

did they change your air filter too?

Cocopops yeah thats right, and as it is so cheap from Debra and IS the correct stuff you can get it changed at 6K intervals instead. And you know it is the right stuff they are putting in.

At the end of the day you are paying for the reno stamp so its more appealing to a buyer (thats what i reckon).

Its says they changed my air filter on my bill. I am going to check it tonight as the old one only did about 4k miles and was fairly clean (had a piperx for a while).

If they didnt change it where do i stand?

  Full Fat 182 - Was..

im already stocked up on oil reday for them to stitch me up good an propper!

What other oil would be good in the 182 aparty from elf stuff? would GTX magnatec or Mobile or shell be ok? ( the high performance types )

What is the best oil for performance cars interms or frictyion reduction, cooling and engine wear??

Zim would like to know

they have basically commited the offence of daylight robbery if they havnt changed it...

:)

well not quite but Id be back down there, to ask why they have charged you for something they havnt touched, the air box is easy to get to, have a look inside see if its new.

They didnt change my airfilter on first service either, they did supply a nice scratch on my passenger wing instead tho.

10w40 semi synth is what renault used to recommend for the 172, they changed it to 5w40 fully synth over a year ago.

Dont think im too bothered about the oil as it will get changed every 6k anyway.

Will be seriously pi**ed off it they have changed the air filter. When i put it back in I put a small mark on it so i would know ;)

Can someone break down £165 for me though. I know £33 was the oil and approx £20 for the air filter (assuming the sales guy wasnt telling me porkies). Are you talking £100 labour charge?

Maurice £33 for oil is cheap by Reno standards.........you may well find it increases the next time.

If oil is bought in bulk ie 24lts it works out at less than £12 per oil change so even at £33 you would be saving more than £21 EVERY time the oil is changed and most of all you will know that the correct oil is being used;)

Just a thought.

7.71 for the oil filter

and 72p or something like that for the sump plug washer.

£47 for the arse raping.

  Golf Mk6 Oil Burner

so thats..

£33 oil

£20? air filter

£9 oil filter + washer

£? disposal of oil

So it does look like approx £100 for the labour

£125 was labour......rest was oil filter, pollen filter, air filter and VAT i think ....al in all if you count the oil i bought separately it cost me £245 !!!

and apparetnly i didnt give them enough oil....the manual say it take 4.75 litres but the garage told me it only filled it to half way between min and max.

i have to say though...they treated my car nicely, didnt wash it (i told them not to) and it had exactly the same mileage as when i dropped it off.......wasnt my local garage but i think it was worth the extra journey....my car feels completely different...runs like a dream now (was quite ropey before...but didnt realise until now!)......i am touching everything made of wood at this point!!......*******shhhhhh....dont want to jinx it***********

why do you think it feels better bubba, do you think it is in ya head cos some oil and couple of filters cant do much surely? they only inspect brakes etc dont they.

When I go i take 8litres of oil, they will have enough then!

I took it to Baldocks in Wivelsfield, Sussex......

The engine idles better now....used to fluctuate a bit, which Crawley Down Renault was fine and normal.......I dont get the kangeroo effect anymore when its cold........starts first time everytime now.........maybe the rest of it is in my head but accelerating is a lot smoother and it seems to have a lot more poke in 3rd gear for some reason.....just wants to keep going and going......

wtf?.........they quoted me £200 before I told them I was bringing my own oil....they are taking the pee me thinks

  182

I understood that the 182 was launched in 2003, so how come they are being taken in for the first service due at 2 years old. Or am I missing something.

they quoted u £200 before you said you were supplying oil, then they charged you £198? £2 off for your own oil?

r j cup in other words ppl have got 2 12000 miles and hence need a service.

LOL^^^^^^^^^

I had mine done the other day cost me £198 all in.....expensive yes but thats seems to be the going rate down south!

The tw*ts put in 0w40 mobile1 oil instead of the 5w40 stuff - told them their error and the service guy fobbed me off saying that the oil they put in is better then the standard stuff recommended in the service book (which is true i think).....oh and they scratched the corner of my bumper  getting them to sort it in a couple of days

  Ford Fiesta

a pic of the scratch, how bad is it?

something to not look forward to the first service.

  Golf Mk6 Oil Burner

So why did i get 10w40 s/s from the Reno dealer ?!?!!??!?!?!?

Quite a range from 10w40 semi/synth to 0w40 fully/synth !!!!!!

I guess this is all part of owning a Reno again
