1st Time Paint Correction

  Mazda 3 MPS Mk1
Hi guys i have treated myself (and the car) to a Megs G220 qand i have bought the following to use on the car to get a better finish...

Sonus FX1 Pad
Lake country blue finishing pad x 2
Lake country white polishing pad x 2
Menzerna Power Gloss S 100
Menzerna Power Finish PO85RD 3.02
Menzerna Super Finish PO106FA
Menzerna Final Finish PO85RD
Megs #83

What would you use first?? Obviously i know i dont need all of those products but got them for a good price!

I was thinking of using the Megs #83 for a couple of passes as there is not major scratches / swirls but some spider webbing, and then using one of the menzerna products, which would you reccomend?

I wish id of known more before buying my 1st G220 as i bought a load of crap with it too i didnt end up using.

Personally, knowing how clio paint is. Stick the White Polishing pad (its not hex logic is it??) and Power Finish. IF you get through the swirls that way then your onto a winner, if not, stick another white polishing pad on and whack 83 or power gloss on there.

Still no luck, go buy some more pads, compounding ones. Ill be amazed if you touch the finishing pads.

Just done mine with The white hex logic pad and Power finish but it didnt QUITe have enough bite. Next time, ill be using the pad up from it, cant remember the colour, and Power finish.

With a DA, Power Finish. Don't use Power Gloss unless you know what you're doing. There is a reason it says "cut 10/10", even with a DA.

Ok l will have a go with the power finish. I used the megs 83 on the bonnet and it gad virtually no cutting affect in any light scratches I could see in the clear coat, was hard work!!

It will with time and correct work. These are more oily than the Menz products, but a good starting point for any newbie.

If you feel up to it, use some Menz Power Finish.

Power Finish is pretty good actually.

What colour do you have?

If its RB, ive recently had a crack at one and my word the paintwork was tough. The lad ended up using a rotary, 3M yellow pad which IMO wasnt agressive enough, and M105.

Powergloss is pretty harsh! Shouldn't need it.

White LC and 3.02 is what i use at the minute and that works on the BM and the RS's...If i take a couple more microns off the reno than the BM so be it...
