2.0 clio sport dealer service

  xf jag 2.0 cliosport
Need some feedback about whether recent dealer Experience is normal Renault practice and what my best course of action to complain.Fault started with daughters clio sport showing esp light and being vague on steering. She took it to renault dealer and they diagnosed worn track rod ends and quoted £220 to replace and this was done. This was new years eve and they told her car would be ready to collect at 15.00.She returned to collect car which was not ready until 17.00.As she waited for car she could see car being hastily worked on through showroom glass. On Jan 2 she phoned me to say esp light still on and car steering badly.I told her to take it back.Next day she phoned in tears to say garage had phoned and there was major fault with car which would cost £900 to fix.I told her to tell the garage to return car and I would see whats going on.When I put car on axle stands each wheel could be moved 30mm with the steering wheel locked.Dismantling revealed that new track rod ends had been fitted but there should be steel inserts in the aluminium axle carriers which are parallel interference fit into the alluminium and machined taper to accept the track rod ends.It is my guess that the old track rod ends were tight in the taper and these inserts came out with the track rod ends. What is unbelievable is that a Renault dealership could attempt to fit the track rod ends into the axle carriers without these inserts and return the car as drivable especially as it was my daughter driving.I have now obtained the correct parts and repaired the car myself as believe me they will never touch it again.Want to know the best course to obtain recompense from Renault

£220 for track rod end replacement, you were robbed blind!

Track rod ends go straight into the hub, sounds like wrong ones fitted although wouldn't of thought a difference between Mk2 Clios.

I just had my track rod ends done for £26 each supplied and fitted + £35 tracking

not much you can do since you have since repaired it, personally id put it back to the way it was phone RUK say its not right and you want it inspected by another dealership so the original cant hide their mistake when they see it, either that or get the service manager to have it put up on the ramp and get you to show him what you have found since you seem resonably clued up.
