2.0 in a 1.2 question.

Hi there i didnt really know which section to post this in, but i thought that this would be the best one...

anyways i was woundering what happens if you have a 2.0 RS engine in a 1.2 when you have a MOT, like onthe emissions etc...?( and if the car is still down as a 1.2 on the log book?) just need a few answers as this is a subject i really dont have a clue about..Thanks Chris

You have to inform the DVLA, and your insurance company.

Well for it to be legal, you would have to inform the DVLA that you have changed the engine in it.

Yer but i have heard that people with different engine in the cars to whats on the log books have passed MOT fine? :s or have they just had dodgey MOT's

It's not the mot that's in question. As said you must tell the dvla & your insurance company.

unless you keep the 1.2 in the front and put the 2.0 in the back, then disguise it with a parcel shelf and some 6x9's homeboy

Boollucks my friend. How do you explain so many engine conversions?

ok then no you dont need a dodgy mot,

however an mot tester will fail you if your car is not as registered

^^no they wont, iv had 2 cars with engine conversions and both have passed MOTS, they dont check engine numbers and the like.

you will need a dodgey mot if your not declairing it to dvla in most cases though.

engine numbers are not checked on the mot. Or not one ive ever seen.

no it wont fail emmisions, all cars post 1992, looking at emmsisons data you cant tell the difference between a 6l jaguar v12 or a 1.2 16v clio...

yes it will pass an mot, nothing to do with the tester,

yes you do need to inform dvla, send the logbook off and get it declared.

most insurers will want pictures of the work,

crack on, and crash it..
