2.0 turbo

Car  Writen off dci 100
Hi all

How hard would it be to fit a 2.0 turbo from a megane sport into a clio 172 cup? Has anyone seen this conversion done before?

Any info would be appreciated :)

lol i was just wondering if the smaller engines from a clio and megane where the same such as a 1.4 16v they might sit on the same sub frames aswell, as they do in most vw/audi etc.. i know you can take the engine straight out of a audi tt and it will sit straight on the sub frames of a post 1990 golf.

is this not the same?

For a start the 225 is not an old car yet. So It's going to be really difficult to find an engine. I think that you would have trouble with the exhuast manifold hitting the bulkhead.

not sure hey. dont know much bout them

I had a look at it and as far as I understand atleast the engine in the 2.0T is a F4R-series (Same bottom part) From what I have seen the engine mounts look very much the same.

A 6-speed gearbox in 182 would be nice aswell :rasp:

Speak to Fred about it.. He started the project just after the Triassic Period ended... IIRC the problem is related to the gbox but unsure exactly...

yeah only because they actually sold a golf with the exact same 1.8t engine in it - wouldnt be much of a conversion really as you could just go buy an off the shelf 1.8t golf for 2k and spend the money tuning.

but as for the turbo 2.0 i seem to recolect the block being taller or something along those lines there is something that renders it quite a job to get in a clio
i know the gearbox is a big problem too

you could get a skyline RB26 in a saxo, im sure you can get a megane engine in a clio. just depends how much you want to nob about making it fit. like fred says, he's done it and the greabox was tricky.

in that case fred, how much would it cost to get done lol :)

i can sell you all of my old stuff no problem, i have a brand new megane RS gearbox and an F4R turbo engine, you need to find a fabricator/motorsport specialist that can make the gearbox mounts

i paid £750 for a new megane RS gearbox, you can have an F4R turbo engine and the gearbox for £500, just need rid now (no inlet or exhaust manifolds and no turbo)

that seems like a good deal there!
Find a written off 225, you'll probs get the missing parts pretty cheap.
I CANNOT afford this. my bank currently reads minus figures, but it's a good one for someone to try :)

it just fits

that sounds so tempting but it will be april before i could start anything as im due a pay rise and a bonus then

If its the same bottom end, couldnt you simply slap the head on and all the other bits?

Infact how can it be the same bottom end? I cant imagine a clio running boost on standard internals lasting long. :S

given time and money its deffo possible just a good bit of blood sweat and tears on the way lol i looked into fitting one into my old 1.2!! i just dont have the time to sort out fabricating mounts and making up custom shafts thats before we come to wiring!

Isn't the bottom end on the 197 engine the same as the one from the Meganes? Always wondered if the heads could be swapped?Obviously there would be a bit more to it but just wondered.

you ll be lucky to get an engine the best i could find was the laguna 2.0t or espace 2.0t not even the bloke at rs tuning could get his hands on one
