2.0L Conversion on a 1995 1.4 RT

  White Clio Mk1
Hi ive had this clio for a while and now that ive got a few years no claims i want to drop a 2.0 willaims engine, gearbox and make it a bit nipier ;)
Was wondering if there was a good place to buy the engine and gearbox or someone local to me (North West London) who would be able to do the conversion.

I asked a mechanic and he said it would cost between 1200-1500 to take the old engine and gearbox out and put the other one in which feel like a rip of to me.

Any advice would be appreciated, cheers

imo that price is around about right

but i would rather spend my money trying to get a phase 1 172.

Why do you want to do an engine conversion? Have you considered the cost of upgrading the brakes and suspesion to go along with the increased power? You''ll probably be better off finding a nice valver or williams instead of messing around modifying what you've got.

I was just about to say call midge.
he has done loads of swaps/conversions. The engine i got from him was sound as a pound.

if your mechanically minded im sure he has most of the parts you need to get it done yourself
if not there is Matt Brown up in leicster who will have anything else you need guaranteed.

I know why you want to do it to your old 1.4. its a fun little project.
